GT-R=AWD, so some who can't afford the $100K price the dealers charge, are looking for a substitute, thus G37 Coupe AWD

 

Are the AWD Coupes going to come in a 6MT?

 

I didn't know anyone was actually waiting the the AWD coupe to arrive,
probably not true. AWD would be fun to drive thru the twisties and canyons,
but they're not intended for drag racing. Anyone that wants an AWD car
has already purchased an Audi, or not.

I've had FWDs (Hondas), AWDs (Diamond Stars), and RWDs (Nissans) in my garage at one point or another and there is no way an AWD is better than a RWD in the twisties... AWD comes with too much weight and understeer. Cars like the GT-R with an AWD built for performance is an exception, and it seems the GT-R would be one of the only exceptions as even Porsche uses RWD on their best handling car. Stock vs stock in the straights, AWDs will have the advantage of early traction. The rest is on how you've built your motor and how good the drivetrain is. And even though they aren't as fast around the turns when you're really pushing the limits of the car, breaking traction in an AWD is definitely a lot more fun than doing the same in a FWD or RWD.
