it didn't peel off, it melted off...well, actually incinerated due to a high speed touring event at a very brake-unfriendly track. I did drive around a few weeks with them prior to the track and they were fine.

Do you have to use the "high heat" paint that's good to 1200 degrees, or will the "engine enamel" paint (500 degrees) work just as well? I only ask because there are so many more color choices with the second.

With the exception of your exhaust manafolds nothing gets hotter than your
calipers, I use the 1200 degree paint....that's sprayed on not brushed.

steel wool works well but PEPSI OR COKE with a green sponge will work just as well. without the scratches. coke and pepsi bth have natural rust removal properties..... GO MYTHBUSTERS

i think this is a complete waste of time...at the end of the day your still stuck with the same brakes and in the long run will just look like a DIY job gone wrong. sorry...i rather rock the stockers and save my time and money for something worth looking at i guess.

So do you wash your car? If your bumper gets scratched do you touch it up?

Anyway, the ~500°F paint will discolor some if you get your brakes hot enough. Stick with the really hi-temp stuff.

I have the painted calipers now for about one year and I have no problems with the paint or even with the logo on it.I wash my car once a week and yes my brakes are going to heat up very often because there are a few german highways around my city which have no speed limit

I powder-coated mine. Sometimes I think they're a waste of money and sometimes I think they look awesome. Love/hate relationship with my brakes.
