Problem with wind noise coming from windows

Anyone ever noticed that at 130+ mph that you can hear wind whistling where the window meets the molding? Just kidding about the mph. In all seriousness, I actually notice the wind noise at 70+ mph when I'm on the highway. I'm guessing it is due to the window design and it not fitting snug enough to avoid the noise. But I wanted to see if I have a defective molding/window or if others have noticed this?

Do you hear the wind noise too?

It's a problem with the window seal, I'm waiting for the part so the dealer can fix it. Take it to the dealership.

Re: Problem with wind noise coming from windows

Mine used to have NO WIND NOISE. Then when I took it in after my window regulator failed, after they fixed it, the whistling would come in (at >= 70 mph). I don't know whether it was just coincidence that it was bound to happen sooner or later, or if it was something they did while fixing the regulator but... I also noticed after they "fixed" the regulator, the piece of rubber that's stuck on the pillar that meets the door/window when it closes, it sorta pops out when the door is open, and then gets compressed in when the door closes. It's not like that on the other door... Anyways...

Re: Problem with wind noise coming from windows

I had my regulator done too and experienced the same problem I went thru a car wash and noticed water came in. I looked back and there was a gap between the window and the rubber (vertically) just behind my shoulder. You won't notice it until you look cause it's an unnatural position. You really have to turn your head to see it. Anyway, took it back to them the same day and they fixed it...hope this helps...

Thanks to all that replied. It sounds like the consensus is to take it back and that it is "fixable" and not typical.

Re: Problem with wind noise coming from windows

I've had it since day 1. Mine sounds like it's coming from over my shoulder (top rear of window), but noises are sometimes tricky in this car (sunglass rattle sounds like it's the backseat, etc).

Only 2800mi in 6 months so haven't been back to try another attempt to fix, but the potential solutions are:

- small triangular rubber molding near the side mirror. they tried this and it didn't work for me

- the whole rubber molding/seal

- adjusting the window so it's even horizontally

The latter two were reported as successful here and on FA for other peeps with the same problem.

Please report back w/the resolution once you get one. I'm having them give it another try in a month or so when I go in for an oil change @ 3500.

Re: Problem with wind noise coming from windows

That is my only real complaint about my 03 6Mt.
I was driving my wifes 4 runner ltd today on freeway and was thinking....damn....it is much quieter than my G!!
Mine sounds like it is comming from the rear of the passenger window. I'll ask dealer to look at it when I get the window grease streaks taken care of.
