Re: Revisit: clicking from rear of car

I've had this clicking sound coming from the rear of my car too now for about 3 months. Brought it in to the dealership last week and they told me the same thing- its the rear axle- and that they're seeing this a lot lately with the coupes. They said they've tried tightening the axle with other g's but that it doesn't repair the problem. They said I could live with the clicking for now or have the axle shafts replaced (under warranty of course). I told them I'll hold off for now, but I think I may bring it in soon to have them replaced. Does anyone know if this is safety issue?

Re: Revisit: clicking from rear of car

I don't think it is a problem with the automatic. For some reason I think I remember reading this. Mine sounds like a metal tapping or clicking noise when accelerating and engaging first gear. It only seems to happen when you give it some gas and/or are starting out on a hill. I don't hear it in other gears. I talked to a dealer today and they said it is something they can fix though it will keep coming back and will need to be adjusted every so often or will come back.

I took my G in yesterday. They lubed and resealed the axles. No more clicking. If it happens again I'm going to request new axles.

I am also experiencing this axle noise problem as well. However, how do you know if they actually replaced the axles and wheel bearings? Do they provide you with a receipt that states what has been replaced? And Im assuming that all the labour hours and parts are free of charge since it's still under warranty.

I dont think the 05's have this problem according to the TSB #05002 (CLICKING NOISE FROM REAR AXLES). The bulletin says this appies to 2003 coupes, all VIN's but 04 coupes built before VIN # JNKC454E(*)4M810563. appied date: 04 g35 coupes built before february 16, 2004.

If my VIN number is higher than the VIN nuimber listed does that mean i shouldn't have problems with my rear axles? Cause i started to hear that sound too but not sure if its my brakes but i hope not since i only have 8k miles on the car so far.

For mine car its an 04 coupe 6mt. had it since August of 04 (9 months old) with just over 8k miles on it. But idk if they will fix it since my vin number is over the one listed in the TSB. Also will this harm my car in anyway, reason i ask is Im going to drive to VEGAS and i dont want any surprises on while driveing.

Just had mine done yesterday (2 hours of labour), they replaced the bearings and etc... at a total cost of US$500. Good thing it's covered under warranty.

My 04' G35C Auto is having the same clicking noise at low speeds, or when brake is applied. Just got my car back from the dealer after replacing my driver's side window motor.. I'll have to get back in the service center soon.. maybe give it a few weeks when my car needs another "Free Dealer Carwash"
