I just purchased new wheels but don't know what tires I should get.

How much does tires run for?
I'm looking for good tires for 1k or less!

Thanks

Well... give us more info.

What size wheels, do you want stretch, quiet, grippy, all season, summer only, staggered, aggresive looks?

Lotsa variables there.

info

Sorry about that, I'm quite new to this and cars.

Well I live in the Bay area where I see all 4 seasons.

I just purchased 19x8.5 and 19x9.5. I guess this would be the normal staggered setup?
What I'm looking for is staggered, grippy, and all season wheels. 1k or less?

Whats the difference between a bigger low pro tire and smaller low pro tire?
245-35-19 front and 275-35-19 rear
225 front and 245 rear
235 front and 265 rear

I'm looking at the same thing and for the price range your looking for I've narrowed it down to the new NITTO's, Falken 452's and General UHP's. I've got the Generals on my son's Miata and they are a great tire for the money but I really don't like the looks. So I'm down to the NITTO's and Falkens but haven't made a final decision yet. Everything else your looking at 1800 to 2k.

The upsize I'm looking at it the 245/35ZR/19 on the front and the 255/40ZR/19 rears which give's you a little more tire but doesn't effect the LSD or need new wheels, spacers etc.

Got Rubber....?

Keep in mind when buying tires (like anything) you get what you pay for.
There's no better feeling than having the confidence that you bought good
tires, your life may depend on it! Tire size, with your rims you can use
245/35 (front) and 275/35 (back) for high quality tires I'd buy Michelin Pilot
Sport PS2....Tread Wear 220....Traction AA....Temp A. Check with your
local tire shops or tirerack.com, might be a few $ over your budget but
these tires are worth it!

The best tires I have run to date are the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's.

They are a couple of hundred less than the Pilot II's. They actually won a tire shootout that had the PSII's in it--you can look on Tirerack for the article.

Great grip in dry and wet, nice looking sidewall. Seem to have worn well so far and noise level is quite reasonable.

Definately go 245/35/19 in front and 275/35/19 in rear. That is the correct stagger for your wheel sizes.

tires

I just bought the new Nitto Invos and had them removed after a week....too noisy.

Ended up paying an extra $300 for Yokohamma...advan...I think...much quieter but not very good traction.

I would try Nitto 555's but you need to go to a '35' ratio instead of the stock 40.

Also may try Toyo T1's as I have heard many good things about them.

I HATE buying tires

I agree I had T1S's and loved them. Also PSII's are great fun.

If you can find a good deal ive seen the PSII's go for 1k for the set.

It all depends on what you're looking for.

I look for grip, and the type of tire I pick only come in certain sizes. My cars are usually wearing Potenza RE01-R's or Kumho Ecsta MX. Both are way way off the deep end in terms of dry grip, but wear quickly.

My VR-4 has GS-D3's on. They're awesome in the rain relative to my other tire choices, but are a bit lacking in dry, again, relative to my other tire choices.

Put these options in order of importance to you, and perhaps I can make come recommendations:

Dry grip
Wet grip
Price
Tire life
Comfort

Also, do you run into snow? What size rims are you using?
