Lien Issue
Lien Issue
So I found the car I want to buy and the seller told me there's a lien on the car that needs to be settled by her first. The lien is with the Infiniti dealership. To sort out the paperwork, I know it probably takes some time. The problem is i only have 2 days till I go home (i have a flight booked already in case I found nothing while I'm out here for work). My plan was to drive it home in the next two days. Do I have to wait for all the paper work to be done or is there a way for me to pay and have the title passed to me. I don't care if the paperwork eventually gets mailed to me.
Thoughts?

I flew to buy mine and you can certainly say no if you need to. There's nothing wrong with that. Mine happened to be exactly what I wanted and I was fortunate enough to get to hit 130 on a beautifel stretch of land on the way home. I love Texas. ...and my car.
||| but what i meant to say was , yes, you need all that before you leave. It is way too much trouble relying on deadbeats to pass a title. Been there.
Good luck, friend.

I have gone through same thing several times
When buying a car with a lien, I normally download a generic bill of sale from the internet. Fill it out and get it signed and notarized, normally at a bank where the money changes hands. I will also make a Xerox of the title and the seller's drivers license.
I always insist on taking possesion of the car and bill of sale and then wait for the seller to pay of the lein and have either the bank who holds the title or the seller send me the cleared title (hopefully the bank sends it directly to you)
I would be sure and call the bank and discuss, perhaps in precense of the seller. The infiniti dealership does not have the lein on the title but whatever bank who gave the current owner financing.
I have bought prob. 6 cars and three motorcycles this way. Make sure to research EVERYTHING...call the bank.....make sure everything feels legit.
good luck!!!
