Compliment for the coupe (I think) and funny exper

... I don't know if this has anything to do with it but I did the airbox mod this morning.. the sound is now even more thunderous. It may be just a coincidence but I chirped the tires from a roll @ 5 MPH ..I was unable to duplicate...

Anyway on the way to work, the far right lane that I was in was ending due to contruction I am kinda boxed in but I see an opening and I downshift and punch it. I go by this older pickup truck with some older guys in it. At the light they pull beside me and here is how the conversation went:
Guy in Truck: Hey .... Haaay! That's nice right there what you got in that dayum thang is that a V8?
Me: Nope it's a V6.
Truck: What is that?
Me: An Infiniti..... G35
Truck: mmm hmmm.... Boahy (boy)That dayum thang sound good
Passenger in the truck: Hell yeah it does. You sure that aint no V8. That thang cost some money don't it? Go 'head now.."
Truck Driver: Hey where you get that from?
Then the light turned green as he spun his tires and took off. I just sat there laughing my a$$ off for about 2 seconds then eased off the line.

A hemi is the Dodge engine that they use in Vipers and some trucks.

Re: Hemi

Originally designed by Chrysler Corp. in the '50s which arguably peaked in the mid '60s (as a 426cu" and some bigger experimental versions) primarily as a killer NASCAR motor. There was a somewhat de-tuned street version available to the public (two Carter AFB 4-barrels). The NASCAR version was such a monster (and contributed heavily to Richard #43 Petty's fame) that to keep things competitive, NASCAR banned that motor. Chrysler had to make do with the 440cu" "wedge" motor... but the street 426cu" Hemi was still available as an option in selected new cars to the public until the gas crunch of the early '70s... It was the gas shortage and insurance costs that killed it.

Now, trading on that heritage, Chrysler is again marketing a smaller "Hemi" that has little in common with the NASCAR monster of 40 years ago... Of course, one can still acquire an updated crate motor - the grandson, if you will - of 426cu" to over 500cu" versions, carbed or EFI... after all, it only takes money.

Yeah, the name derives from the combustion chamber design. The top of the combustion chamber is the shape of a half sphere, or HEMIsphere. Was a popular thing back in the 60's. Most combustion chamber tops are wedge shaped. I'm not sure if they just reintroduced the name, or if the new engine really is a "hemi"...

I just bought a Nissan Titan for work and it has the same engine design as the hemi.

Exactly. "Hemi" deriving from the word "Hemispherical."
