Banged up G

Last night on my way home with my daughter, some idiot{on his cell phone} didn't see us slowing down for the traffic in front of us until the last minute, which is when he tried to go around us but hit me on the front passenger side, sending us across the median, across three lanes of oncoming traffic, up onto another curb and we finally stopped on top of a mound of dirt after altogether skidding a couple hundred feet. The front bumper is pretty torn up and a couple of the rims are bent with a couple of flat tires.
Anyone have any idea of what kind of damage running over the median and the curb might have caused to the underside and suspension of the car.
I had it towed to the repair shop today, but because of the holiday, I'll have to wait till Tuesday to see what they say.
I was hoping the ins. co. would just call it a total, but I know that will not happen.
The cops and the fire rescue guys were all pretty impressed how well the car actually held up considering the distance and the curbs we ran over. The overall body did not look to bad, and we walked out of the car without a scratch. Just a very shaken up daughter.

We were probably going around 30 when we hit the median which is the same height as a sidewalk curb.
As we hit the second curb, we were probably going 20-25 mph.
No one thought to bring a camera when they came to pick us up.

Re: Banged up G

Unfortunately, curb accidents are possibly one of the worst impacts that a vehicle can endur. Since the entire suspension is bolten onto the frame of the vehicle, it becomes amazingly difficult to return the car to it's original form. My integra that suffered from a 30 MPH curb hop never felt the same again, especially during high speed cornering. The car just didn't feel as solid as before.

I would highly suggest the insurance company to total the vehicle if at all possible. My main concern would be the overall driveability of the vehicle once it's been repaired. It might never feel the same again....

My two cents....

Ken

Unfortunately. I know the car will never be the same.
My wife is already taking bets that I will trade it in as soon as it is fixed. She is probably right if it wasn't for the fact of how big a loss I will take because of the car being in an accident. The worst part is that I took care of this car better than any other car I've owned. My neigbors thought I was crazy when they saw me out on the driveway cleaning it at least once a week. When they saw me spending a whole day putting the first coats of Zaino on, they really thought I was nuts.
Hopefully, when it is fixed, it won't be as bad as I am thinking it will be.
Anyway, I get to go pick out some new wheels and tires which might make me feel a little better.
