Well, I got my second ticket in about 2 1/2 months tonight. The first one was 60 in a 45, and I went to traffic school for it. This one tonight was 51 in a 40 in a different county. So, I'm told that because I went to traffic school the first ticket is wiped off my DMV record, so this one tonight is the only one Nationwide is going to see. In Tennessee, going to 5-15 mph over the speed limit is 3 points on my license. I've also heard that without giving my insurance company a reason to check up on it (calling them about it, etc.), they won't see it unless they run a check on my license. Is that true? What kind of insurance increase am I looking at? Man I feel like an idiot right now.

my agent told me that if i dont change anything on my policy they wont see it. But once you change something they will adjust your payments and its gonna be a bit. if i didnt have a speeding ticket on my license my policy would be lower than it is now

Hopefully next year my payments would be lower coz its already 3 yrs

Pay more then the ticket is for. If its 100, send a money order for 110 or 115, when they send you a check back for the difference, shred it. The wives tale is that until you cash the check the legal proceedings are not final. I don't know if there is any validity to it BUT I did do this for a moving violation once, and the insurance never found out about it.

Coincidence? Maybe. Worth $10 trying? Yes.

 

I thought you could just fight the ticket with a lawyer? Get the case dismissed and that would be it?

I also got a ticket about 2 months ago and I went to driving school and just turned in my certificate yesterday. I know here in FL you cannot attend driving school more than once in a year. If I was to get another one, I would fight it with a lawyer.

I would try to just pay the tucker for more than is due, but I was told that I'm required to go to court.

 

even if you go to court, you have 60 days after the court date to pay

 

Do you know if that's true for all states?

 

I just got my first ticket like a month ago. They said i could go to school or get it deferred.

I dont know if it has something to do because of texas but the judge said if i went deferred i would have to just pay a little less then the ticket and they wouldnt report it to my insurance. but overall it would have cost me more then just paying the ticket outright cause of court cost.

I however went with school cuz it was cheaper overall.

Just call a lawyer who specializes at traffic stuff, they are actually really good at getting them dismissed.

 

to bad they dont have Mr. Ticket in TN cause he battles all sorts of tickets in San Diego. i got ticketed at 90+ the other night and hes gonna hopefully save my license.

 

Should be similar. Even if you lose in court and still have to pay, your going to have a grace period to pay, either 30 or 60 days.

 

So is this method of sending a money order for $10-15 and then never cashing the check they send back legit? Has anyone elsehad success with it?

I would go to court and plead guilty with explanation. Then you have the option to see if the officer shows up and you can explain to the judge what happened. I had a 84/65 in VA which is automatic reckless driving and went to court, it got knocked to 79/65 with a $50 fine which was doubled. No points. Always go to court for speeding tickets.

Plus if the ticket is less than $150 usually the insurance companies dont do anything about it unless you got a few of them.

 

My ticket is $151.75.
