Looking into buying a 2003 G35
I'am looking at a 2003 G35 that was posted on craigslist earlier this week. It has 69,000 miles, clean title, 6 manual transmission, brembo brakes, and a 100,000 mile warranty that ends March 24th, 2010. First of all I have test driven the car and it doesn't seem as smooth as a 2004 I test drove before. You feel the ground more when starting at lower rpms but then its smooth. Everything else is great just some touching up like rim curb marks, headlights are getting yellow, and the left mirror was hit so its cracked. He's told me $14,700 which seems in its price range but kbb has it for much lower (Kbb doesn't have an option for brembo brakes) $12,900. Others around the internet are selling the same car with more miles at a much higher price but I'm wondering if you think its a good deal and if you can tell me about the difference in driving quality from a 2003 to 2004.
That sounds a bit too high to me by at least 1K, especially considering the cracked mirror. The price really depends on where you live and what options it has. There is no differences between the 03 and 04 that will affect ride so what you are feeling is likely due to the tires. Check the tread on the inside of the tires to make sure the blocks are not tapered from front to back. These cars have a very aggressive camber setting so that type of wear is common. If the tires are fine, then it may just be a characteristic of the type of tires on the car (with that many miles they are definately not the originals).
Yeah I agree on the price. As for the tires they're a couple months old as I recall but the brand didn't sound to familiar. I'll check out the tires to see if they're not tapered from front to back like you say. Thanks
