Results of my Injen SES and Kinetix cat upgrade...

Well, as most of you addicts know, I upgraded my exhaust and cats over the weekend and have driven the car a few days on streets and the freeway.

I went with the Injen Super SES exhaust and Kinetix Hi-Flo cats and I LOVE THIS COMBO. My car sounds more aggressive now, but not ricey in the least bid. My friends at the office said that when I drive away from them, my car sounds LAMBO-like. Now, being that we work down the street from an exotic car dealership and we hear (and see) Ferrari's and Lambo's all day long, I'd say their opinion is valid. I did have two slight issues, one being my fault and the other being a poor hanger location issue with Injen. The first was, I must have some how damage an O2 sensor while preforming the upgrade and that will set me back $150 to replace. The other issue is with Injen. The model I got was the exact one for my year G and there weren't enough hanger point by design to suffice the exhaust's design. I had to go to a muffler shop and have them add a hanger right in the middle of the car so that the exhaust wouldn't rattle against the cross member they were hanging over. That set me back $40 but it was well worth it.

All in all, I feel the the money spent was more than worth it and with my K&N Typhoon intake, new exhaust and new cats, I'm sure I've joined the 300+pony team (at the crank of course)...a future dyno will tell me what makes it to the wheels. I would def rec this setup to anyone and stand behind it 110%.

2 G or NOT 2 G, there is no question!

Congrat Randy! I can't wait to check them out when I see you tomorrow.

I'll be attending a dyno day w. the SoCal Z guys next Saturday ... you are more than welcome to join us and we'll be the judge of whether you're worthy of the 300hp club or not

Randy and AJ,
The dyno place is somewhere in Reseda. I'd link you to the appropriate thread on My350Z.com, but it appears to be out of service at the moment. I have not had a chance to verify the details, but I believe they were shooting for $60 for 3 runs w. wideband AF readings (a good deal). I plan on being their first thing in the morning to be in the 1st run group, as I had promised to attend the Griffith Park BBQ Meet the same day (any of you guys going?).

is there any "droning" or resonating inside the car at certain rpms?

would you say that this combo is "LOUD AS A MOTHERPUCKKER"?

Haha, I see that you're modding your car like crazy now randy. Let's go to the track again sometime soon so I can hear that exhaust of yours. The injen system was what I was thinking about getting if i was to get an exhaust system and the sound was the only concern about it. Now you'll get better times than me for sure.

yes, at certain RPM's, there is droning and it's loud...but not anything I'm worried about. I love this setup! I'll post sound clips when I make them...eventually.

Re: Results of my Injen SES and Kinetix cat upgrade...

Hey Randy,
Sweet set-up. My cats are still sitting in the box waiting for a new exhaust to mate with it. The Injen exhaust is at the top of my list. Can't wait to hear it.

BTW, any worries about running too lean. Getting an ECU flash soon?
