Debadged, how to get rid of outline of emblems?

I've debadged every car I've ever owned and I've never run in to this problem. There is a thin outline around where my Mt. Fuji used to be. It's not paint fade, it's almost like where the dirt or something built up in the edges of the emblem. I've used a clay bar and paint cleaner + polish and it won't come off. Would rubbing compound do the trick? I don't want to f up my paint in the process of doing this. It's a 6 year old car so there's no telling what built up in there over the years, but it sure doesn't want to come off.

I used Goo Gone to get the adhesive off, but this outline will not come off even with goo gone.

Debadging....shadow removal!

Let me clarify something to begin with, with our paint/clear coat you NEVER
want to rub hard with Goo Gone. Always use a cloth that is totally saturated
then apply, should come off easily. To remove the shadows you're referring to
use an item like Scratch X, apply with an applicator. May take several times
to get rid of the outline. When the shadow is gone I'd clay, clean and wax
the trunk lid for a project completed.

Worst comes to worst, you might ahve to wetsand it, cause it might be the clear thats outlined may be newer (stuff that has been covered up) and the outline is there because of the fade of clear. TO even it out you might need to wetsand it.

just debadged my "infiniti" a few days ago and have the same problem. was surprised since it's only an 07 and i didn't think it would have a shadow or something from paint fade at this point.

goo gone got all my adhesive off no problem. but like you said, this shadow deal is a different story.

im not familiar with Scratch X...what is it about?

I have the exact same problem w/ my mt. fuji... no shadowing or anything... just a thin outline.. I've tried everything! goo gone, scratch X, clay, polish, buffer, you name it i've tried it... Its still there and I've learned to live with it.

^^^^Wet sand, thats your only option. Take it to a paint guy, not that expensive at all.

Scratch-X did absolutely nothing.

I think I will just put the Fuji back on.

You gotta be kidding, clay has nothing to do with removal of the shadows
we're discussing and any wet sanding must be left up to the pros who do
that kinda work on a daily basis. I still believe that several applications of
Scratch X or Nu Finish Scratch Doctor will remove all noticeable shadows
from your trunk lid! If ALL fails go to a detail shop and ask them to buff out
your trunk lid....10 minutes max and maybe $20=.

I ended up painting the Fuji satin black and reinstalling it. I might revisit this at a later time but for right now I think that's the look I'm sticking with.
