Currently driving an 07 Civic EX Coupe but not really liking it since it was a hand me down. My brother just told me he needs a car for school out of state for the next two years so I'll be helping him with that purchase.

I'm thinking about selling the Civic for hopefully $15k and using $5k for my bro's beater and then I'll use $10k and some extra for my new car. So that's when I found this 03 G35 Coupe with 100k for $11k.

Just some questions though:

1. I thought the center console was always that silver/aluminum colored trim, but this one is black/dark gray. Was that also an option?

2. 100,000 miles... should I just skip this car? My original budget this summer was $30k for a new (used) car but I decided I'd rather save for my house but I still really want something more powerful to drive.

3. What maintenance areas should I have a technician focus on if I bring it in for a checkup before purchase?

1. no
2. whatever works with your budget. you can find one in better condition for like 18-20 i would say, but i would most likely be an 04-05..
3. belts, oil, tranny, brakes..

Where are you located? Just make sure the spark plug tube seals aren't leaking. That can easily add another 1-2k to the cost.

Once I sell my Civic, my overall budget for my car and a beater for my bro would be around $16k and I'd like to keep $11k for myself.

I live in Orange County, CA. I took a look at the sticky about the spark plug tube seals. That looks like something that I can check myself right? WIth the car at 100k, it looks like all the warranty has expired.

i've decided to put some more money up and stretch my budget to 20k. i'm now looking at an 06 g35 coupe AT with premium package, navigation for 19800 with about 49,000 miles. i'm thinking about making an offer for 18500, and maybe work up from there.
