Angry parked hit and run

I was parked at work and someone smashed into my rear bumper and drove off. They didn't leave a note or anything So now I need to get a new rear bumper. I've searched on the forums and found mixed answers for the replacement cost of a new bumper. I'll be getting an estimate on MON, but can someone take a look at the damage and let me know what you think?

I was planning on spending $$$ on my car sometime, but now I'm basically forced to do it so I'll probably get my front bumper repainted (small scrapes on the bottom from a liquor store curb)...and tint.....and get some bump in my trunk I'm keeping the rear bumper stock. For the front bumper, at the very least I'm getting it repainted, but I like a couple of the aftermarket ones...any cheap front bumpers for sale? or does anyone know of a place that sells them cheap??

So far this had happened to me twice in my DD, thankfully not the G, but it still pisses me off to no end.

Good luck with the repairs.

I saw this happen right infront of me yesterday. but you see the joke was on him. he had like a old chrysler of some sort. and he hit a Ford F-150. turns out his bumber got all jacked up and not even a scratch on the F150.

the crazy part is he didnt even stop to check his car or anything. just took off!

Yea just today i had my car parked outside my friends house and it was completly out of the way of this persons drive way and they backed up and and hit the back of my car....

IDIOT!!!

i wasnt at his house at the time and i got a phone call that said some one backed into my car and i was kinda getting excited because i have needed a new front bumper but it was the side of the rear bumper....

not that much damage at all just a little dent and some scratches.

but do you think i could get a whole new front bumper because of it

their insurance is paying for it

consider yourself lucky an honest person hit your car. if it's dented you can have the whole bumper replaced. with most insurance companies, where it's a hit and run like what happened to me, you only have to pay a $100 deductible and file it under UM (uninsured motorist) which won't raise your insurance rates. allstate is trying to pull some BS saying that since the person who hit my car is unidentified, it can't be filed under UM and would need to go under collision/comp which has a $500 deductible and will raise your rates. So basically, if it costs about $700-$1000 to replace the rear bumper...it wouldn't even be worth it to file it on my insurance b/c they'll deduct the $500 out of the check AND raise my rates.. Depending on the estimate, I will most likely be paying for everything out of my own pocket

Now, if the estimate comes back high and there's more damage than what it looks like....I may file it on my insurance and seek diminished value. Diminished value claim laws vary state by state...but in NC where I'm at there have been some favorable rulings..
