Help buying a G35
New here guys but need some help.
I'm a college student and due to some extra scholarship money, I'm probably gonna get a G35 coupe. Budget is about $15K.
After looking around, I've got some questions. I'm looking at an 04 at the moment.
I read that some people say to avoid the 03-04 and get an 05+
The reasons I've read are: better interior, more HP, minor updates
Now what I want to know is if it's really worth the extra money?
The 04 I'm looking at has Bose, the Aero package, heated seats and a few other things.
It's got 30k miles and they're asking $20k, however I'm pretty sure I can haggle down to $17k or $18k.
Is this the right price or should I be looking for an 05+ (or even so, not get my hopes up to score an 04 with low mileage at that price)?
Any advice would help - reasons to get/avoid an 04, expected prices, and anything else. Thanks

I understand what you're saying. I'm most probably gonna go with the 04, but pricing wise, do you think I can do better?
This is the first car I'll be purchasing, and although I've haggled prices before for my parents, they've been for new cars so it was pretty easy to figure the invoice price, dealer hold back, and incentives.
With a used car, I've looked at KBB's private party pricing in good condition - $15.5k.
Not sure what the dealers base off of but I really think I can push to $15k.

15-16K sounds about the right price for your car if it's all original (no paint work on sheetmetal), doesn't need tires (4 tires= $1,000 installed approximately), and checks out mechanically. Considering that the new car market is in the toilet bowl...... the earlier used cars might be somewhat stronger in value and a super clean car might demand more.

Price really depends on region as well. G's seem to vary widely depending where you live. Not sure where you are but around here there's no way in hell you'd get an 05 anywhere near 15 (at least an 05 in good condition).
Instead of posting a new thread the best thing to do would have been to do some research in this forum. There is loads of information here, pretty much any question you have can be answered without having to post a thread...it just takes time. So, here's some keywords to search for: Oil Consumption, Transmission problems, AT vs MT, Cost of Ownership, you can even find information in the regional forums about what the best dealerships are in your area, I'm probably leaving important things out, anyone else have anything to add?

Well the regional forum doesn't help because I'm from Delaware which is one of the lower populated states.
As for finding the right car, I can only find 3 or 4 used g35 coupe's for sale in Delaware under $20k.
The 04 I'm looking at is essentially what I wanted - black ext, black leather, spoiler, bose w/ 6 disc, Aero, and less than 50k miles. Only thing is the year, I like the updated interior of the 05+, but to me, it's not worth it for $5k, maybe $1k.
