Grinding Noise... NOT ABS

i drive an 04 coupe with 36,000 miles. i just started to notice a grinding noise coming from what sounds like the front driver side.

i would describe the sound as like an ungreased hinge so to speak. i even feel it through the steering wheel, and especially at slow speeds. anyone got any ideas about what it is? id appreciate any kind of feedback at this point.

oh yeah, nissan said i needed new rear brake pads and rotors. i dont think this is it because the sound is coming from the front. any input?

lol. i have brakes in the front. they were replaced about 7k miles ago. they were worn out before my rears were. after some careful searching, im starting to think it a compression rod. any ideas?

Not without hearing it. It could be anything.

Look at the obvious first...does the sound or vibration go away under braking? If so, chances are it could be a front wheel bearing. They were notorious for over tightening at the factory in 03-04. If it still happens, maybe they didn't do to good a job of resurfacing the rotors.
If the work is guaranteed, take it back and let them fix it.

The compression rods will create a crunching sound especially over slow speeds, like speed bumps!
