^ And if what you are saying is true, then that just explains my second link.

Either way, the way I see it, Valvoline is saying M1 doesn't meet standards. Being such a big company, if the statement was false, they would have stepped up and said/done something already. The fact that they're just sitting watching tells me they know they've ruined their formula.

Continued Oil Contriversity....?

For some reason I thought this rumor about Mobil changing their base to a
lesser quality was resolved two years ago, and proved to be false. It was
about two years ago that I switched to Red Line synthetic 10W/30 but
still believe there's nothing wrong with using Mobil 1....!

I don't believe there's anything wrong with Mobil 1. I've been using it for years in my cars and will continue to use it in my DD. I just want better protection for my g35 if there is any available.

HAHA....Ken that's probably with I switched too. I'm always in search of
something better regardless of cost or availability!

TwilightBlue post up your results once you get them. As far as amsoil goes I haven't seen it at the local auto parts store. Can you only get it online? How does the price compare to royal purple since they do carry that around my way. I want the best for my G so If I have to pay a little more I will do it.

This site has a lot of good info on it about the synthetic debate. Turn off your speakers as it has a hokey midi file that plays, but if you can read through this, there is a lot of info on the "is synthetic really synthetic" question.

It is a business website so keep that in mind.

Forget "Keep in mind". I want some Syn Lube!!!!

Thanks for posting the link. Interesting read.

Won't they start advertising "Buy ours and don't support terrorism". All seems very wild. And funny that they always compare them to politicians. Haven't the oil companies always been the biggest lobbyists? They TAUGHT this to the politicians.

Good point, but I don't think I could drive a car without EVER changing the oil. I had an old Ford NAA tractor that I never changed, just added, but never a car.

looking for opinions

royal purple 5w-30 or amsoil 5w-30? Are both 100% synthetic? Im not sure if royal purple is. And is every 3k miles too soon for a change? appreciate your opinions want to see what most ppl use and recommend.

I found amsoil online for 8.90 a quart and 34.** for a gallon. There is only 3 places within 10 miles of where I live that carry it. Why isn't it easliy available like other oils? If I would have to order it online and pay for shipping...I'm thinking about royal purple as an alternative?

Like I stated earlier - You're better off with Mobil1 than Royal Purple.

German Castrol would be a great choice, but it may be harder to find than Amsoil and other alternatives.
