Newb. '06 black MT coupe, drove a sedan rental today

Hey all, I just got my black on black '06 MT coupe, premium pkg and so far love it. I had a few questions about my car... I just took it in to service under warranty to check a popping noise when the suspension is flexing laterally.

Anyway, they gave me a '07 sedan auto, and I couldnt believe how much more sensitive the braking was, how much it felt like the engine had more power, and how much better the steering radius was. Isn't the 06 mt 295hp? The sedan should be 305hp which isnt much different, its wet here in TX, I couldnt believe how easy it was spinning the tires..

Also...I know there isn't much to add as far as engine mods without going forced induction, but is there anything to add a lil hp to the engine?? Are the plenum spacers worth the $$. I didnt buy the car to race, I came from a 450 rwhp ford lightning, and I own a 69 big block ford. So I dont exactly have the itch for speed with the G. So I plan on doing a lil more suspension / handling upgrades. But want a lil more hp.

Thanks! Glad to see there is a following for the sweet cars!

Mike

THis has been said over and over, but if you look at just the #'s, then yes, the cars have a 13 hp difference.

The new motor has a much higher redline (and more agressive gearing to go with it). It also has a meatier and smoother powerband.

The sedan is also lighter than the coupe.

Sorry didnt mean to bring up an old topic. Its all new to me. No, I didnt put the spoiler on. Is it not an 06 spoiler?

Im supprised the sedan is lighter..What are the final gearing on the coupes, I think a numerically higher gear could benifit.

Nope, thats an 05 spoiler. Im sure the previous owner liked the 05 spoiler better than the 06...seems like most peopled do. Yeah-I also dont know how the sedan can be lighter.

The biggest difference I know of is that the coupes have extra reinforement for side impacts. I'm sure there are other contributing factors, but feel the weight of the doors on the coupe and sedan... you'll notice a pretty big difference.

Thats odd. This car looked completely "virgin" and the previous owner was a girl (not to be sexist) so it seems odd they would swap the spoiler. I kinda like the '06 one better. I found a oem 350Z intake, I heard changes the sound but doesnt add any HP. Does the plenum spacer help at all?

I wouldnt really know about the mods-i myself am trying to sell my car and buy a g35. I just think its odd that the sedan would weigh more. I would say that the spacer and ztube probably add no more than 6hp...thats just a guess though. I do know that these engines are already pretty maxed out as far as getting all the power from them.

Yeah, I would think changing the final drive ratio would help abit, but might make 1st gear useless

I do plan on lowering it slightly and adding larger sway bars, bigger brakes. Might powedercoat wheels later.

Yeah i wouldnt mess with the ratios. I do have to say though that the 03-07 coupe exhaust sound is better than the new 37's. I find it more soothing and smooth lol. If you dont mind me asking, how many miles on your car...and what was your price?

Nice. Good luck with the mods! The 05 coupe is way more sexy than the 07 sedan anyway-it drives great as well. Thats all that matters.
