Anything over 6k, IMO, is not only a waste, but looks stupid as hell.

And stock HIDs are 4300k. The 'purple' you see is a flicker from the projector, not the bulbs. Look that up next time.

By going over 6k your really wasting light output. The lights wont be as illuminating on the road (the main reason for headlights right???)...so go with 6k, 5k or the stock 4300k...

10,000K (kelvins, not thousands btw) are usually cheap and crappy. Good manufacturers like Philips, etc... don't make anything much hotter than 6000K. If a manufacturer does, you really should stay away from their products.

Let me try and explain this to you.

Your G35 already HAS hids, if I remember correctly they all come with it except a few 03s I believe (someone correct me if I am wrong). The 06-up come with hids but with an addition of projectors.

If you want to just change the color of your stock hids (4300), then just change the bulbs, you DONT need a whole new kit (including ballasts, etc), since it's all plug and play. anything over 6k is pretty gay in my opinion.

For the non-projector g35s (03-05), a good 5000 or 6000k bulb would do the trick but you'll get decreased light output.

For a projector fitted g35, I'd just get a 5300k or 6000k McCullough (forget how to spell it) kit and you'll be set.
But again, anything that's Kelvin rating over stock, the higher it is, the more.. color you'll get, but you WILL GET DECREASED light output.

So if you want color, thats fine, but I'd choose safety over "coolness"
or if you want both, then just get 5000k or 6000k like I said above, regardless if you have projectors or not in your car.

Hope this sets you straight.

No.

All you have to do is switch out the bulbs, which are D2R for 04's. Any Generic D2R bulb will work, go for 6000k.

the 350z headlights are not purple at all, you have to colormod them for color. BTW, UV purple FTW!

The color you see are from the projectors. You won't find any car running sh*tty 10,000K bulbs from the factory. You said yourself that it's a purple tint. If they used 10,000K bulbs, the light would be completely purple.

^ I will try to correct some, true that 10000K will be purple for most of the brands. GP Thunder (I had one for my old truck, didn't know how gay it was back then) is somehow not purple but deep @$$ blue from far away. Most of fellows on here are right, the more K you get the more light you'll loose and gay and look cheap. I have a lot experience on HID (own a few pairs + helped friends hook up their), from cheap to expensive, of course the expensive is in my G and the others in my parents' cars. 5000K and 6000K are the best for both worlds. You won't loose much light output and will also have an HID look + little tint on the road. Just change out the bulbs and you'll be all set.

anybody know what the color temp is on the 6th gen maximas with projectors? Almost everyone I have seen have a nice projection with a blueish tint which imo is nice for OEM. Compared to the new 07+ G35 sedan projectors they seem to have more blue tint.

All stock HID are 4300K, those tinted color you see are from the projector.
