Major tint problem!!! Help please!!

Moderators if this is in the wrong section I am sorry. Feel Free to move it where it belongs.

I have a MAJOR problem with my tint that I had done Last month. At the top of the rear windshield there looks to be a major gap in the tint itself. I took my car back to the tint shop and they said "theres really nothing we can do about it." If you notice at the top of the glass there is a lot of little black dots. This is where the problem is the owner of the tint shop told me that the tint doesnt have enough surface area to stick too at the top. He tried sanding down the dots with sand paper but it didnt really help. Now I have a staggered line across the dots. The problem is it looks like I did the tint myself. I hate the way it looks. Heres some pictures to show you guys what I mean:

Does anyone else have this problem?

so it looks like he just stopped when he hit the dots? i would personally tell your installer to do the job correctly because i could show you a picture of mine later this week but im sure there are many others pics on here of a correctly done job. it should go all the way up to the top with no problems.

did he just stop putting tint up until the lines???? if thats the case take it back.
i got my car tinted as well and as far as the "dots" go, the tint grabbed on pretty ok. you can see lil areas and around the dot but you would need to go up to it and inspect it pretty close in order to be able to see it

I already took it back once like 20 minutes ago and he claims that the tint wont grab onto those dots. Im pretty pissed. I think im gonna go to another tint shop and see if they can do a better job.

a good shop can get tint to stick to the dot matrix. Get your money back and go find a different shop. That should be like your first question to ask the tinter, how they handle dot matrix

This is a problem with a lot of cars...some tint places can't manage to get the tint over the dots on the top of the rear windshield. On my G it wasn't a problem and it wasn't a problem for acouple of my friends. I have a picture of the back of my G in my album. Feel free to use it if it will help you.

no tint will stick to the "dot-matrix" part of the window, because of the lack of surface area, like some people have already mentioned. most legit tinting places should know this and usually will have a vinyl piece they can put there instead of the tint. i would call around to different tint places and ask if they can put a vinyl piece on to fix your problem

I kinda had this problem, First off the tint needs to go to the top of the window. Yes i will stick to the dot matrix, but it does not adhere as nice as the glass. My advice either have them re-do the back or get a refund and have another shop do it.
Once you get the window properly tinted, you may notice that some spots of the dot matrix are not sticking, this is normal. and can be fixed.
Let the car sit out in the sun for a day so the back window gets nice and hot, and then take a wet paper towel and press up on the tint inside of the window. the water and heat will help it shrink and stick to the window better.

I had my car tinted last summer, some of the dot matrix was not sticking, at first he said give it week it should shrink, some did and some did not, i took it back and he told me about the wet towel thing and it did work

just my 2 cents

mine also has a vinyl piece in the upper dot matrix and looks great because you can't tell from the outside, and you don't even use that part of the glass to see out of anyways
