Help with possible G35-sounds fishy...

Im trying to figure out if this is a scam or what. Heres the story:

I was checking out ebay for G35's. I found a 2006 G35 coupe-black 6mt with navigation. I emailed the private seller to ask for more information. Turns out, he is in the Us navy, serving in the Persian Gulf and needs to sell quickly for "financial reasons." The price on ebay was $10,000. The ad was removed after a buyer didnt finish the sale-so he says. The buyer paid for the shipping, which was non-refundable. I told him I was very very weary about this whole deal. He sent me pictures of the car, car looks perfect. He also sent a carfax report through the email as well. He bought the car with 11k miles and is selling at 17k miles. Carfax says its a clean car.

Heres the VIN he gave me:
JNKCV54E16M717900

I searched that in google just for kicks...and it brings up this ad:

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...003&cardist=13

That is obviously not the correct car as that has the wrong wheels for a 6mt and looks to be an automatic, where as in the pictures he sent me-its clearly a manual.

Then, just now, I got an email from him:

Hi,
I am working in the US Navy and now I am on a mission on the Persian Gulf. I am on a aircraft carrier and I don't have phone access. I am selling the car for a low price because I have financial problems. The vehicle is currently located in AZ. The vehicle is already at the shipping company ready to be shipped. I already arranged the deal with another person but he changed his mind because he found another vehicle. He already paid the shipping charges. You will not pay shipping charges. Shipping is free. The car is insured in case of damage and it takes 5 days to be delivered at your door. It will come with all the necessary paperwork (clear title, bill of sale, warranty documents, user's manual, insurance etc). I signed all the paperwork and I have the clean and clear title ready for transfer.
This is the VIN#: JNKCV54E16M717900. The vehicle is registered in my name and I am the 2nd owner. There is no lien on the vehicle.
The general condition is impeccable. The vehicle is like new, completely working, perfect running condition, with no hidden damages or accidents, no dents, door dings or scratches, it has always been garage kept, non-smoker, still smells like new, no pets. The car has 17,959 miles.
I will send you the pictures (in zip format) and the carfax report in my next messages. Verify your email. The messages may not come to inbox.
If you are still interested just let me know and I will send you more details in order to make a safe transaction. "

So..all in all- im guessing a huge scam...am I right or am I right?

His final reply: Bob,
I can only deliver the car to your front door because I am not in US in this moment. The car will arrive at your door in 5 days. The shipping is paid. You will not pay shipping charges. As soon as the vehicle will be at your home, you will have 7 days to inspect and test drive the car. If you will not like the car 100% you will ship it back at my expense. I'm sure this will not happen because the car is in excellent condition.
The car is at the shipping company with all the paperwork inside. You will receive all the original documents and keys with the car. I signed all the paperwork and the title is ready to be transferred to the new owner. I can't prove that I am the owner of the car because I can't send you any paperwork.
The only way we can do this transaction is through Ebay because I want a smooth and safe transaction.
If you are interested to buy my car, please send me your full name and shipping address so I can register the transaction with Ebay. Ebay will reply you with more details and informations about this transaction.
Also, you can see from the carfax report that I bought the car with 11,440 miles. I've missed on sale a week ago. I am selling it because I owe money. The pictures are taken on last autumn. I am on Middle East since december. I won the car at a auction so I paid below market price too which explain my low selling price. I also asked when the pictures were taken and he said last autumn. I checked the picture information and they say june.

Thank you,
Eric "" I then asked what the name of the shipping company was and where it was located and if they could send pictures of the car and title...

Simple. Research an good shop in AZ and arrange to have it inspected. Ask the seller for the address and contact person of who has control of the car. Then say, you'll have it inspected.

The military thing sounds like BS. What's the email addy of the seller?

According to my system it's a KH3 color code (Obsidian Black) and it's an Automatic, no navigation either and it's a track model. Hope that helps.

yeah. my thoughts exactly. I guess he just stole the VIN # and peoples pictures of their car, and is hoping someone is dumb enough to send him a check. After I checked the image specifications and found they were taken in june...not last autumn, I was pretty sure it was time to SPRINT away.

That is a very old scam. I suppose, since he's "on a ship" he'll need the money via Western Union (non stoppable, non refundable).. bla bla bla. What a DB.

Haha. I told him I was incredibly interested, that I would be sending him a check tomorrow and that the car looks perfect- LOL....FAIL. Thanks for your help guys. Stupid people are everywhere, glad I'm resourceful enough to not be classified that way.

Yep--scam for sure. I've seen the "I'm in the military and overseas" excuse too many times. Had a guy try to sell me an Acura TL with the same excuse, way below market value...
