Finally Bought One

To start off, I LOVE these cars! And this is probably one of the better forums I have been on(2nd GEN Tundra, Titan, Cobalt SS, RX8, and Kawasaki Ninja). I do have a question, just to get some thoughts on my purchase. I bought a 2005 G35 6MT Coupe Blk/Blk that was ravaged with hail damage for 11k it had 48k on it when I purchased it about 2 months ago. I am from Arkansas so as you would figure, I am pretty computer illiterate or I would post some pics. But the damage is pretty extensive across the hood, roof, and rear lid. Interior is perfect and runs great; sound like a decent deal or not? Just curious. Thanks for your input. Love the car no matter what.

the hood and trunk lid should be about 1000 to 1500 painted and put on. or you could by somebody's stock hood and trunk lid of the forum for cheaper probably. the roof im not sure, that might be pretty expensive. Sure it doesnt need new fenders? make sure you look very closely, because that is pretty succeptable to damage.

Yeah, the fenders have some dents as well as the door panels but I have a couple of buddies that either own or work at a body shop and they said that there is a guy in town that does the paintless dent removal and he could get those out alot cheaper. They say its pretty incredible what the guy can get out, we'll see.

It will not be worth fixing the roof from hail damage even if there small. You will end up with "bondo" from one end to the other. I would just buy a CF roof and call it the day. I have a hood and trunk for sale but I think shipping would be a b!tch lol.

I am definitely wanting to stay away from bondo, I have a friend in town that works for a salvage lot and has ties with other lots keeping an eye out on panels, hood, and trunk lid. CF roof is a pretty good idea, I figure either way it will get cut off and I've noticed that CF doesnt seem to be that much more expensive than replacement pieces. Thanks for the idea.

I was just wondering if it sounded like a decent deal or not. I am happy either way, I have just seen several guys upset about how much they paid. Obviously, my circumstances are different, but I was just asking to see if anyone else had made a similar purchase.

sounds like its a perfect candidate for an aftermarket hood and trunk. dont get those cf roof covers. they look so cheap. ask someone to post some pics for you. lmao.. if the dents arent that bad they could be popped out..
other than that id say you got a good deal

sounds like a good deal to me. even if you spend at most 5-6K on body work, that is still a good deal at 16-17K for an 05 coupe!

I appreciate yalls input on this alot. It definitely reassures me about my purchase, even though I know I would be happy having this car no matter what. I am 26 and have had 20 different vehicles over the years; my wife asked me the other day how long it was gonna be before I trade again. I told her that I think those days may be over for quite a while, but the G definitely aint going anywhere.(currently Dodge crew4x4hemi and the G35 coupe). However, if she gets this new job she's putting in for I may have to go back to a Tundra.
