Which G35 Would You Purchase and WHY?
Hey everyone
i really wanted to trade my 04 DG G35 Coupe
for a G37 or 370Z but its just to much for me
right now..so i was thinking about getting a 06 G35...
(I STILL OWE $17,500 FOR my current 04 G35)
Im guessing that the dealership will hopefully give me at least
$13-14,000 meaning ill take like a -$4,000 hit)but oh well
i currently have $3k cash
I had my 04 G35 for 1 year and 6 months
the reason why i want to trade in my 04 is
b/c i found out my G was in some kind of accident
which the carfax didnt report..so the front to fenders have
2 tone paint..they did a ****ty job trying to blend..(i didnt notice it
b/c this was my first car purchase so go easy on me) and then noticed that
the passenger side rear quater panel has 2tone paint....then a few months more down the road i hear squeaking coming from the front whenever
i go over bumps or imperfections in the road...yes i took i to the dealership like 5 times the 5th time i thought they fixed it but the sound came
back and then my
bumper to bumper warranty expired lol...then my drivers side door lock wont lock/unlock with the key fob,my windows sometimes wont go up.......
sorry for the long post lol
so i had my Eye on 2 G35's
1. Is a 2006 O.Black G35,Fully loaded for $19,990 with 47,000 miles
(The only thing i dislike is the pinstripes, but i can use OfficerDbags DIY)

2. Is a 2006 Laser Red G35 Coupe, with sports package for $22,900 with 26,xxx (the only thing i hate about this is the Beige Interior)

if you were in my situation what would you choose?
or would you just keep the 04 till its paid off......
just wanted some opinions..thanks

Keep your current G35 for sure, a lot of cars have been in accidents. If you buy used, you probably bought a car that's been in some kind of accident. Not everyone takes care of their car the way some people on here do. If the engine, transmission, and frame is alright, you'd be stupid to lose $4000 on a trade in and then end up owing even more on a slightly newer G.
With all the money you save from not doing everything you just said, you can throw on a nice kit, repaint your fenders, fix everything, throw an entirely new suspension in there, and still have a ton of money to make it better performance wise than a stock 06 G35. It's your money but I think it's better spent fixing and improving something you already have than losing money to start from scratch.

With all the money you'd be losing, you could funnel it into this car and make it really something show worthy. Or you can just pay to fix it up until it's a nice reliable daily driver, and save all that extra money.

Good luck with your decision.
I'm going to go against the grain and be an advocate for you buying the LR coupe. Get a carfax on whatever you but no matter where you buy it from. Call me pompous or a snob butt, wrecked cars are a danger to drive and I'm not about to go into detail right here about it. O6' coupes have the 19's., upgraded brakes, engines, headlights and taillights. Also, the upgraded interior. The LR has only 26K so make sure that the maintenance has been done since it's not cheap to do so. The coupe is not a true sports car but, many people seem to drive like it is one. Therefore, brakes, transmissions, tires get worn quickly. Check the tires and or, try to negotiate an extra grand on those, since it's about $1,500 to replace those Potenza's with Michelins. GL with your decision, whatever you do the main thing that matters is that you're happy and can afford the outcome.
This is a tough decision to make, finding out that the car you're driving is
pretty much junk due to accidents then poor quality body work. No matter
the cost I wouldn't enjoy driving it! Paint job won't help, what's that called....throwing good money after bad? Since it's a "buyers market" see
if you can get them to come down on the OB coupe. (you don't like the LR
interior) Cut your losses and make sure you know what you're buying, you
don't need to make the same mistake twice....Good Luck!

I don't see how exactly you plan on getting rid of the car here. If they give you 13-14k(unlikely if it is as described) on the trade, you owe 3-4k to the original loan which wipes out the 3k cash you have on hand. Essentially then, you have no down payment and you're getting a new loan at a little over 20k once you factor taxes etc which means you're out the 3k down payment (I found your old thread when you bought the car), plus the ~6k in payments you've made over this last 1.5yr. That means you'll have spent 12k to use the '04 for the last year and a half.
So now, you have a minutely newer car that may or may not have the same problems as the one before, a new loan that is instantly just as upside down as the previous car and bigger payment as well. Given the current credit crunch, you may also find it hard to find reasonable financing for the car (I noticed you used a cosigner for your 1st loan) if you don't have much down.
Personally, I would get estimates on everything wrong w/ the car and then try to sell it private party if you decide you really can't stand the issues and there are deeper issues (it was a full rebuilt car etc). Additionally, I would get something cheaper if at all possible. That down payment money you've saved up won't cover how much you're upside down and if you keep doing this, you'd be better off just leasing a new G37 since you don't seem to actually want to own anything and are making payments comparable to that of a brand new car plus it sounds like you'd exercise the warranty.
Either way, you're in a very tough place w/ that car. You're not getting out from under the loan if you trade and may actually dig the hole a fair amt deeper. A good body shop may be able to see exactly what was done to the car and help you decipher what it'll take to fix it. I wouldn't put much money into the car but at least its a set payment and your 3k savings offer some level of cushion should it need repairs. Going to an '06 may reduce the # of problems but you're wiping out all the money you put in plus starting at 0 savings again as well as resetting the loan clock back where you started 1.5yrs ago. If the car's problems are mostly superficial and not a totally pieced together deathtrap, drive it into the ground and get something when you can either put a little more down or find more favorable terms.

thats a tough call man....u owe 17k??..thats another G there....and its easy to say u will take the loss now but ur payments will make u think twice.....personally id just stick with ur G u have now and do minor repairs when the cash is available....all the while idk how long ur loan is for id put that 3k in a CD account for the same time...(unless its ur **** hitting the fan funds) and see where ur at when u come out of ur G loan...might be enough for down payment on a 370Z (btw id deff pick that over the not a sports car anymore G37)
trade for a 6mt. get an 03-04 with brembos. upgrade the tails and headlights and get an 06+ sport bumper. and you also save some money ! but the decisions on you, everyone has a differnt opinion.
