i live in nj. gas hear is usually 87, 89 or 93 octane (94 can be found at some places).

infiniti recommends 91. so, i get 93.
a friend of mine just bought a volvo s60 2.5T. he said the sales folks said just put either 87 or 89.

what is effect? long term damage? current performance? fuel injectors?

According to Consumer Reports and all the other people that think they know: You can use any gas as long as the engine does not ping.

Personally - I didnt spend 37K on a car to save money on gas. I always use premium as it is only a few cents more. I tried regualr gas in previous cars that called for premium fuel and you can def. feel the difference after a few tanks.
