Newbie Concerns

Hi Everyone,

Happy to be part of the squad. I do have a concern with my black beauty. I bought it with 95k on it, 04, AT (I do a lot of traffic). It seems that when I drive consistently at 80km/hr, the car seems to jerk. When I accelerate the car is wonderful, but it's the constant speed of 80 where it switches into 4th that is a concern (~2500 rpms). I have a powertrain warranty to 110k, and am wondering is this is something to have them look at.

Please help!

Definitely go have it looked at if there is an issue. You will want to have anything documented before the warranty runs out in case there are any continuing issues later.

WOuld you have any idea as to what it could be? I just had a synthetic oil change done on it, but don't know how the transmission fluid is etc. etc. I'm really hoping it's a fluid issue. I know there arent any leaks.

I'm not the most mechanically inclined person but there are probably a lot of different things that could cause it. My guess is that it has more to do with the engine than the tranny. Could be something like spark plugs (unlikely at your mileage though), dirty MAF, bad sensor somewhere, computer issue, it's kind of hard to say. When I bought my 04 used, I had every fluid in the car changed just for my peace of mind. I did the oil (Castrol 0W-30 European blend), tranny fluid, coolant, and rear diff fluid. I also changed the air filter and cabin air filter. Next up is spark plugs and belts. I fully believe in using a warranty if you have one (after all you paid for it) so I would let the dealer have at it.
