Plus I would feel like a retard pressing the brake or having it neutral while tying to launch a auto.

that is true if you do it incorrectly(like what homieg35) but it's not to say it cannot be done. either way, I'm not gonna argue I got better things to do than call people stupid lol go ahead with your quest to learning how to launch

actually best way to get your post counts would be not to jump on the band wagon and jump on the hot rod going the opposite direction

that way you have more to say defending your point of view

Ok im sorry but i have to put my 2 cents in. For the 6MT guys, working on your launches doesn't depend on what other people say. Play with the car and find the sweet spot for you. Everyone will have their own opinions (and other variables that will change the "exact" rpm to launch at)

Also, for those like me who opted for the 5AT... its stupid to work on launches on the street. All you need to do is give it some gas when the light turns green, chances are you will be going faster then everyone else off that light. (and im not talking about mashing the pedal to the floor!!)

If your bringing your 5AT to the track, then yes... brake torquing is your best bet for launching. I enjoy playing with my car sometimes and i have brought it to the track multiple times. I have tried just flooring it or stepping into it from the line and my times were not that great (yes, VDC was off and i left it in D), when i held the brake down and built up power to about 3500, then released the brake and mashed the pedal, the car spins the tires then goes. My times were ALOT more consistent and better with that approach.

I can see how doing this would be bad on the transmission, but thats only if done constantly. If you bring the car to the track occasionally its fine, but its stupid to do that every time you come to a stop.

Just be smart about what you do and think about the kind of stress your putting on the different parts of the car...

I've also heard it referred to as "unnecessary acceleration" and I know people who have gotten tickets for it.

Anyway. All arguing aside. I have a 6MT and somewhere between 3k and 3500 are the best for my car. But as Nightm4re said, it will vary from car to car (and I'm not 100% stock either).
