Re: How easy to use GPS?

Exactly. It's filled with features that you will probably never use. This makes it comprehensive but not difficult. The key to this is just like using a computer, the more you use it, the more you will become use to it. Use it before you need it, so when you need it you will understand it. Remember this, all of what seems to be a nav error will really be a human error. So read your manual and start using the system. One example is that I found out that it is easier when you are punching in an address, to list the State, then the street. The system will then scroll you through that street for each city or town having that street name. This may seem long, but is fairly quick. You can punch in the State first, then the city, but the system seems to resist this method. But either way, use it and you will start to really enjoy it. I got lost once and knew I was close to the Interstate, so I pulled up my screen and saw that I was only two blocks away. I have also experimented with the difference between long and short menus and have become familiar with which one works best in a given situation. The human input is essential regardless of the system, so use it and you will enjoy it more.

some of the features that I didn't care for before, I actually can't live without... Like the phone numbers. Often times, I already know how to get to a restaurant, I just want the number to call ahead and make reservations, or see when the close. Especially useful when I travel. Sometimes I want to know where 7-11 is, etc....

The joystick is terribly annoying and makes inputting destinations somewhat tedious, but the overall navigation system is very easy to understand and use.

It is annoying, but you only have to input a couple of letters before you hit "list" for it to come up quickly with matches that will usually have what you want as one of the first few.

Like "state/ca/list" to get you california, "city/pa/list" to get you pasadena, "street/ma/list" to get you main street, etc. It's much faster that way and saves a lot of annoying joystick twiddling.

Re: How easy to use GPS?

There is an "Easy" mode to get you started, it is very simple.

The benefits heavily outweigh the cost. In 5 years, any car(especially a luxury car) without a factory navigation system may as well be a Pinto when considering resale. Imagine buying a car today wihtout a CD player. 10 years ago it wasn't common, now they are standard.

Next, having a complete and comprehensive map of wherever you are immediately, 100% of the time, is absolutely invaluable.

Passengers are meszmerized by it. It clearly raises the G above competing cars without it.
