problems with 03 coupe?

Hey guys, Im looking at buying a g35 coupe, would like an 04, but more 03's are for sale.
I've been told that the 03 model had alot of problems.
have you guys experienced alot of problems with your 03's?
what do you suggest? should i hold out for an 04, or is it alright to buy an 03 pending a good inspection?
also, what do you think about an 03 g35 with 155 000 kms, so 96000 miles, do you think its not worth buying a car with so many km?
Thanks for your input

Same as in any other website you've ever joined, SEARCH is your best friend. Numerous threads exist deatiling this topic. Conisder the year and the mileage when buying a used car. Our car's are not sports cars but are driven as such. 100-150k on a car pretty much destroys a car, even when not driven hard.

I have a 2003 5at at 75K kilometres. I only have the popular control arm, compression rod issue which in this case almost all cars have this problem. Besides this I never had any major problem, fuel(420miles in highway driving)&oil consumption is well within limits, knock on wood.My car runs great, it also depends on how the seller dealt with the car.

when the mileage is that high , bear in mind, you will have more probability for major replacements, higher maintenance costs, and more problems.

I would say that there is not necessarely more problems with 03 than other years. Dependability of 4 to 6 years old cars depends more on how they have been maintained and driven than anything else. The one to be careful about however, is the 05/06 hrev engines found on the 6MT due to widespread oil consumption problems.

Yes, it's true that the majority of the TSBs were with the early G35s (2003-2004). However, if the previous owner was diligent in having their car brought in for any applicable TSBs and recalls will bring the car up to date.

i have an 03 coupe. I havent had any problems. "knock on wood"! I got the car with only 19k miles. Now it hads 45k. I just change the auto trans(just drain) fluid and my diff oil very clean still. I drive like an old man tho. I did take it for gas hole recall and when i change my spark plugs i found the oil pool. https://g35driver.com/forums/g35-cou...rranty-up.html other then that my car runs like a champ!
