Re: Question about 110mph for 3 hours straight!

I spent some time in Germany and legally drove 115 mph (the rental cars had governors) on the autobaun. I had to ocassionaly move into the right lane to let the 150 mph BMW's pass. I probably drove at 115 for no longer than 1/2 hour at a time. I would love to drive my 6MT on the autobaun.

For future reference, you should always be in the right lane, even if you just pass someone and will have to in 100 yards anyway. It's a principle called RechtesFahren that must be obeyed on the Autobahn, lest you get a $300 ticket (that must be paid on the spot) for cruising in the left lane.

Most of Europe is real strict on that rule. You gotta love that. I can handle someone cruising in the left lane at 80 if there's traffic but if you're going 70 you shouldn't even think about going in the passing lane.

Re: Question about 110mph for 3 hours straight!

I left LA at 10:15 pm saturday night and about 11:30 ish I started the cruize speed I pretty much saw little to no traffic so it was fun anyway I just asked a question I didn't ask if anyone thinks I really went that fast I just wan't to know if it bad or not then you can think what you wan't. and yes it is very easy to maintain that speed for a long distance because the road is just one long straight line. the route I took was 405N- 5N - 580W -80W. I couldn't get that fast on the way back however toooo much traffic it sucked oh well it was all worth going!!

If they only had the same fine here. Along with the actual enforcement of that.... road rage would probably not exist...

RechtesFahren=drive-right.

Makes sense. It actually is a law in some states, just never enforced.

Yeah its the Law here, (Ohio) but the dumb@ss cops pick and choose what laws to enforce! We also have a maintain flow rule, that states if traffic is moving at and maintianing a speed above the speed limit, enforcement is limited. So everyone one goes 75ish and there is no problems, yet at the same time there is always someone that wants to go faster 80+

Yeah I got pulled over a few years back in Missouri when driving to Memphis for thanksgiving and had been clocked doing 86 in a 70 and the cop made a point to warn me about being in the left lane even though i was only a few hundred yards in front of a van i had just passed.
I would have been pissed if I would have gotten that ticket too but totally think that the "warning" aspect just ADDS to some cops' power trips...but then again iv gotten half a dozen warnings and loved everyone of them

Re: Question about 110mph for 3 hours straight!

Over Thanksgiving weekend at 3AM in the morning, I pulled the Houston to Dallas trip in two and a half hours (it was like 260 miles). My valentine 1 never went off at a chirp, but I was cruising at like 100-120 the whole way wihout much problem. Of course, it was like 40 outside so overheating wasn't much of a problem The RPMs were around 3.5k-4k.

Remember, no matter where you go, there you are.

This is in reply to what Geobau mentioned... GOD BLESS GERMANY! I mean i would love to live in a country who gives tickets for clocking in at speeds less then 100mph because thats the way it should be. I HATE it when im goin 70 or even 75 and some [censored] *** granny in her caddilac barely seeing over the damn steering wheel is barreling down the fast lane at a whopping 61mph... People like that should get tickets for driving under the influence of old age...
