Rhino Ramps Opinions

Read a few threads concerning oil changes and I wanted to look into some ramps. I found a site that is selling these low profile rhino ramps. Wondering if anyone else has them and can comment on their ability to clear the G35 front so that no damage to the front occurs.

http://shop.store.yahoo.com/rodi/usm11905.html

Did an oil change and it was a pain in the ***. The hydraulic jack I purchased was too high to clear the low clearance of my G. So had to use the scissors jack to jack it up a bit to use the jack. I was thinking that ramps would be easier to use. That way I can return the jack. I'll keep the jackstands.

TIA

I've got the Rhinos and they are perfect for my 36" waist with an 18" stock wheel package and no front lip spoiler. I've changed the oil, installed a Fumoto Valve and replaced a cat and O2 sensor with them. No good for anything aft of the Y pipe.

I have the low profile ramps. They still don't clear the front end. Another inch and I wouldn't have problems. You have to over inflate to 40psi to get clearance. I have the 6MT, not sure if that makes a difference. No front lip, bone stock, and I'm not a heavy guy. I just put a piece of 1 inch plywood infront of the ramps and I'm good to go at 35 psi.

Thanks for the feedback! I did have some plans to lower the car, so it looks like Rhino Ramps may not be the way to go. I'll post about low profile jacks to see if anyone can recommend something.

Thanks

Re: Rhino Ramps Opinions

With stock height on stock 18s I can use the rhino ramps. It's a tight fit and the lower edge of the bumper cover just rubs a little bit but she goes. So much easier then trying to jack up the car. my floor jack won't fit so I had to use the stock jack to lift a corner up a little then the floor jack could be used. If you're stock then I would recommend the ramps, it looks like it won't work but it does without damage.

shibal_z......in regards to the low profile floor jack check it out........

I know this has been discussed here before, but if any one is interested in a low profile floor jack at a reasonable price, click here They seem to have a descent product at a pretty good price.....
I know sears has a 4,000lb (2 ton) jack as well, but its around $200..............

The jack on that link is rated at 3000lbs. Our cars weigh more than this, is it still safe to use with that rating?

Re: Rhino Ramps Opinions

You will only be lifting 1/4 or 1/2 of the total car's weight. So 3000 lb rating is more than adequate.

I use Rhinos on a completely stock G35C with 18" wheels. I've never had any problems. The biggest PIA with changing oil is removing all those screws (I count 20 screws) to get at the oil filter from beneath the car. A portable 18 v driver makes the task of removing the screws much, much easier.

Wierd I have the low profile rhino ramps too and it does not fit. I need to drive up on wood planks first. There must be a few different types of low profile rhino's out there.

Re: Rhino Ramps Opinions

Maybe the front end for MT cars weighs more than for automatics? Conq, you have a 6MT also?

As for the 20 screws, you are going overboard. Just remove the four screws at the end of the covering. YOu can then fold it at the crease and change your oil that way. You just need to attack from an angle to change the filter... a lot easier than removing the 20 screws though.
