Crunch Time!

Hi all,

I'm not new to this forum, but I've been on and off it for some time. I've been looking into getting a G35 coupe for about 6 months now, and the time has come to finally get it! Only problem now is that it's "coupe season" here in New England and my negotiation power has run out. Apparently the dealers I have been going to tell me that the used car business is "blooming" and prices are higher then ever! So I need some advice from all of you. So far I have narrowed my search to two coupes, but different years.

First coupe is a 2005 gray/black auto with navi and sport package 37k on the odo. and going for 27k. I talked the dealer down to 23.5k without taxes or if it's infiniti certified add another grand.

Second coupe is a 2006 black/black coupe with navi and premium package, but no sport suspension has 16k on the odo. and going for 28k! I haven't been able to haggle this dealer down too much. They are not willing to budge, but I am meeting with the guy again on Sat. to possibly negotiate a good price. It is infiniti cert. and comes with 100,000 mile warranty.

My question to all of you is: Which is a better deal? I am thinking I want something newer, and the 06 has the bluetooth and key fob; whereas the 05 does not. It's a hard decision I need to make within this week. I'm selling my 2000 eclipse privately this week and need this car stat. Please any advice would be so helpful. I know it's ultimately my decision in the end, but a little input never hurts.

P.S. I should add I have seen both these cars inside and out, and test drove them. Both of these cars are from Infiniti dealerships.

Thanks again!
Liz

Where exactly are you located?

I saw an 04 for $17.5k, 32k miles, every package except nav.

Regardless of what the season is, this is a buyers market. Don't settle for those high prices.

I'm not sure what your requirements are (private/dealer, auto/manual, etc) though.

I'm not in a good position to give advice as I'm still looking for my car!

I live in Boston, and I'm looking for 05 or 06. I have found some good prices, but not through an infiniti dealer. I'll keep looking.

I'm in DE. One of our dealers has an 05 with 20k miles for $21k. I'm sure you could talk them down.

This is assuming the car hasn't sold yet.

I think those prices a little high.

I see 05-06 coupes here in SoCal for less. When I was searching for mine, I noticed 6MT's cost more.

I'm pretty sure you can get a better deal if you want an auto.

I don't know if NAV is important, but don't let the NAV sell the car. Compare prices with G35 without NAV.

I found an 05 also with around 22k miles going for 21k. It's really hard, i've been doing a lot of research for some time. I hope it pays off!

Bought it!

So I just purchased a 2005 black/black coupe with 34k miles. Not too bad! It has navi, 19 inch rims, and pretty much I'm in love with it. I paid 20,995k for it, and by KBB standards it was worth 23,500k. I don't think I overpaid, I think it's just about right. I'm so glad to finally own one! Thanks for your advice, and hope to have pictures soon!

every state is different cars are worth more in different states. the 06 is a good deal i wouldnt pay more than 26k. I have noticed that the black on black is more popular so it is going to cost more.

well congrats on your purchase but i think you may be confused....23,500 is what the suggested retail price meaning how much the dealer should see it for....the kbb value of the car lists it at a little over 19k.
