All I can feel is a slower throttle response time.

only advantage that i know off is the car can take complete power away from the engine when a slip or traction issue is detected, in my old BMW i would floor it in the rain and it would take over the throttle and apply a little amount that the car feels it needs to be in control and still take off

improved cruise control, rematching downshifts, less mechanical stuff to break. I Think the reason you notice the sluggishness in acceleration is because of the VDC being enabled - it knows there is a high potential for wheel spin in that condition so it kills some of the power - turn off VDC to eliminate the problem.

I think Drive By Wire is more complicated and requires more do hickeys to run safely. Also, if the Drive by wire system is to fail, you car would go out of control.

Compared to drive by cable, which uses a basic cable wire to control the throttle. While Drive by wire is all electronics.

More for design considerations. With a cable, you have to route it in a way so that it smoothly and consistently operates the throttle opening. It's getting pretty tight under the hood nowadays. With drive by wire, you not only eliminate this concern, but also the hardware that goes along with it.

If DBW system fails and causes the engine to rev uncontrollably just throw the car in neutral or engage the clutch.

A cable can get stuck and cause the same issue. I am pretty sure that there is probably a fail safe if DBW does malfunction.

The great thing about drive by wire is that this can be fixed or simply adjusted... I guess you can say that it's set from the factory with a little lag...

im not sure about the G's since I do not have a Drive by Wire System on mine, however on my friend's 08 Altima with DBW, there is a button at the bottom that registers a "flooring of the gas pedal" which translates into the engine revvin into the redline.

If any of you have a DBW, you should check this out (unless you already know)... when you press the gas pedal down, you can press it down a BIT MORE (activating the button) which lets the engine know that you are flooring it for an awesome lane change (since racing on the streets is TOTALLY not something i would do.... lol)
