Since it's becoming obvious that they overstated the HP, we should all agree to write emails/letters and harrass the hell out of them to fix the problem. If they say 280, i want 280, not 270-275.

Look at Ford and the '99 Cobra....it was overrated by 20hp or so because they fvcked up, people complained and they did a few things under warranty to boost it up.

It'd be a simple matter of better ecu programming (more raising of timing, etc..) to get up the 280.

Who's with me? Should we bitch them out or what.

I dunno about that one? Car and driver was able to get 0-60 in 5.5 with all that weight. 280 sounds about right.

 

This claim has no merit. Driveline parasitic loss is an educated guess at best unless you remove your engine, dyno it on an engine dyno, then reinstall the engine in your car and then do a chassis dyno to get an exact parasitic loss figure. Even if the engine was 5-10 hp off claimed, that is less than 4% off 280 (based on 270hp figure) and would be deemed within normal variations on a mass produced engine. BTW, the '99 Cobra was off by more than 40HP, each engine was hand-built (as all SVT engines are). The '99 Cobra was also touted to be an LS1 killer (LS1 is the engine in C5 Corvettes and '98-02 V8 f-bodies) which it wasn't even close.
