Re: lightening the coupe
It depends a lot on how much money you want to spend.
Zero-low cost:
1. take out spare and tools: ~-40 lbs.
2. take out the plastic covers that surround the spare: -~5 lbs.
3. take out rear side panel speakers: ~-4 lbs.
4. replace stock battery with lightweight: ~-12 lbs.
5. remove engine and battery covers ~-3-4 lbs.
Moderate to high cost:
1. replace y-pipe: ~-5 lbs.
2. replace mid-pipe and muffler: up to 40-50 lbs. of loss going with a ti exhaust
4. UR crank pulley: ~-6 lbs.
4. Kinetix plenum: ~-5 lbs.
I'm sure I'm forgetting some stuff but you get the idea.

Re: lightening the coupe
You can get rid of about 18 pounds replacing your cats.
Additional weight you can avoid that aren't performance related:
Sound system
Grounding wires
Unnecessary fuel at around 6 pounds a gallon
Other straight line acceleration robbers:
Larger diameter brake discs
Larger diameter wheels
Heavier tires, provided your traction is held constant
Don't forget to multiply any rotating mass at the wheels by 3 to 4 times. For instance 7 pounds on each wheel, holding diameter constant, translates to the same effect as losing just under 100 pounds. This should net you another 1/10th of a second off your 1/4 mile times, or looking at in another way, is equivalent to adding 10 HP.

Re: lightening the coupe
Get rid of the back seat ~50lbs maybe more?
Lighter wheels ~15lbs at the wheels
Controversial but true - remove the supporting bar underneath the cats ~35-40lbs
That will get you pretty close the what the Z weighs, but remember messing with the stock parts means the weight distribution is all off too so be careful!

Re: lightening the coupe
If the part you're referring to is the front suspension stiffening bracket, I wouldn't even consider that. There's a DIY I read for the cats and the guy didn't torque that bracket down enough and there was enough flex in the car that it set off is VDC.

Re: lightening the coupe
You could do like the Civic Guys. Once the Interior is stripped you can Remove all of the Sound proofing from the car. Just get a Chisel and start scraping away. Oh yeah Replace your drivers seat with a Light weight racing Plastic one. And The Key is put down a Milk Crate for your passengers to sit on LMAO..........

Re: lightening the coupe
210 lb difference. Not bad considering we have sunroof, leather heated seats, two more seats, 13" longer car, 8" longer wheelbase...
But as for losing weight.. Getting rid of all the crap in your car? I have like nothing that is permanantly kept in my car, cept 6 CD's. Oh, one more thing... Get a skinnier girlfriend. =) Or none at all. HAHA.

Re: lightening the coupe
Get a haircut and donate a kidney...
kidding
That was a good list al503. I almost didn't go with the nav option due to the extra weight, but I ended up getting it -- I compensated by removing the spare, the heavy tools and I did a few other little things to minimize the sprung weight.
For a small annual fee I get 4 tows per year up to 150 miles through CAA (in Canada), so I'm covered in case of a flat.
