UR Pulleys are on
Re: UR Pulleys are on
Ok well call me crazy but it slows down alot slower now. As for the warranty, no it does not void it. You are allowed to modifiy whatever you want as long as it doesn't change the internal workings of the motor. Yes, the crank bearing does suffer more strain on an undamped pulley set, but with our motors, it's yet to become an issue (on the 350z's that have been running them for almost 2 years now). I understand what you guys are saying, but seriously the car does not engine brake like it used to, then again, who knows.

Re: UR Pulleys are on
Nothing summarily voids the warranty. But if you start having engine trouble in 50,000 miles and they see that your bearing is bad, they will not repair it under warranty with that pulley on. You can replace the old pulley back on and pray that the tech doesn't say anything, but when Nissan replaces engines and trannies, you better believe they do a thorough analysis of why it happened.
Read carefully, I am making no assertions that your pulley will screw your engine. I'm merely pointing out the differences between the stock and UR pulley, how it may effect your engine, how to find out if it is effecting your engine (oil analysis), and what might happen if it does effect your engine. Good luck with it. I sincerely hope no one ever has a problem with their motor, now or when someone buys it with 120,000 miles on it never knowing the pulley had been changed.

Re: UR Pulleys are on
Your not that wrong - the car should stop a bit quicker now on downshift.
Besides the 5 hp that some people claim they can't notice, the driveability is what makes the difference. The shifting of the 5at is much smoother as well as the quickness off the line. Not sure about you ex250 but did you notice the stench of unwanted and overrepeated opinions. And from the folks who who broughy you the dyno day shootout to glean which intake is worth an even more meager 1-2 ponies.
Not sure about everyone but the spirit in which I perform these mods is not for the satisfaction of others who don't understand that the combination of a few ponies here and there has a synergistic effect on the overall performance of the motor that when in combination make for a noticably quicker and more refined throttle quality and responsivness. This is one of the best 5-10 hp mods I can think of to combine with other 5-10 hp mods. Gets me off the line like a bastard and cheap too...
Be sure to let us know if your motor flys apart anytime soon. Don't forget to run 35 dyno runs for an inside the margin of error mod so you can prove to yourself that this makes sense LOL

May I ask why?
What is the difference between an undampened and dampened pulley set? How does it suffer more?

There ya go, knock yourself out.
The short answer is that the stock pulley is damped. The rubber ring helps with vibration which translate to bearing wear. Vibration is caused by many things, for instance the belts that are attached to the pulley. The crank is balanced internally true, and the crank is connected to the pulley....which has a rubber ring on it...and it's connected to belts...etc etc.
Whether or not a UR pulley will trash your motor is a risk you must evaluate for yourself. But if you decide to do the mod, and you really want to know, you can do an oil analysis with Blackstone Labs for under $20 and it will tell all. If higher than normal amounts of lead show, you have a bearing problem.
