Low Profile Jack Recommendations

Looking for recommendations on a low profile jack so I can work under my coupe. I bought a 5.5" jack and it was too high... I think something in the 3.5" territory or lower would work. Can anyone recommend a reputable brand/model and where to get one?

Thanks,

Harbor Freight has some good deals.. I bought the $250.00 model (4-6 ton, I can't remember) and it's lightweight and 3" tall. Well worth the money in the long run especially if it can get under my car as low as it sits.

Re: Low Profile Jack Recommendations

This is the one I have....I highly recommend this one. It's a little pricey, but well made (lifetime warranty).

This one is basically the same, they both have a low saddle of 3 3/4 inch, but this one has a little less quality hydraulics(they both have a lifetime warranty)

Not sure where the cheapest price is..I just used the above links for reference...

i personally like the one from craftsman. its an alumimun floor jack weighs about 40 lbs and has a 2 ton capacity. its about 180 at sears. i got it cause i have craftsman tools and they dont let me down so might as well get the jack.

Re: Low Profile Jack Recommendations

None of those jacks are true "low profile," if your car is lowered you will never be able to get that big jack under there. Plus they are really overpriced for what you are getting (imho).

Check out http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...temnumber=2672 for a pretty good jack (2-ton lift and low profile). They are out of stock of the lightweight 4-ton jacks in full aluminum that I picked up a year ago. They have 1.5-ton jacks for $120-$130.00 on the site too.

I bought the CRAFSTMAN ALUMINUM RACING JACK for $200 at sears. You can catch a sale there and pick it up for less if you lucky.

But the jack is great. Its only 40lbs. but has a lifting capacity of 4,000 lbs YES its pricey ... but its a great investment if you do a lot of work yourself ... since you dont want the stock jack to colapse on you .. like many do.

Re: Low Profile Jack Recommendations

Great! Thanks for all the posts!

GR8TG35, the jack you found at harbor freight looks like a great deal with good features. I'll definitely look into it. I also found pricier jacks made by AC Hydraulics which seemed to have good features and prestige, but were in the $300 territory.

I did see the factory jacking points and it looked like the jack had to be put in fairly deep under the car. Are these points for jack stands?

Thanks
