Paint flaking off rear bumper! :(
Paint flaking off rear bumper! :(
Hey all! I hardly ever post here, but visit the forum often. I have a 2003 6MT Gray Coupe. I'm not the original owner (though I met him and he didn't seem the street racing type, traded it in for a camry hybrid). My car has some nice aftermarket gear on it... AEM intake, and an Amuse Titan full exhaust. However..... the rear bumper has a section of paint that flakes off more and more with each carwash... whats the deal? Had it been poorly repainted at some point?
I'm looking for advice from you guys on whether I'd be better off replacing the bumper with a new one with the correct color or trying to find a shop to repaint it.. would there be a huge difference in cost?
Also, whats a pleneum spacer and how do i know if i have one? lol!

I've never read of factory paint flaking like that on the G's. I'd say someone had something repainted and didn't do a good job. Not that much to redo-specially if you know someone in a body shop. Painting plastic is different than the rest of the car, I think they must use adhesives and such.
Backside Flakes....=(
Your rear bumper has obviously been repainted incorrectly without the use of the correct additives. There's only one way to correct your problem, have it repainted by a quality/knowledgable body shop....no easy fix.
