dealer trying to screw me over?
dealer trying to screw me over?
Im pretty sure i already know the answer to this question but ill put it by some of you guys first.
So i took my car to the infiniti place closest to me last night which is over an hour away. It is a G35C 6MT, and i know how to drive a manual thank you for asking. The car will go into every gear no problem while stopped.....and while moving every gear is the same except for second. While the car is in motion no matter how long you have the clutch pedal in it will not shift into second without serious grinding. Every other gear the car is normal. From a stop if i push the clutch in and try to put it into 2nd quickly it will gring also, but if i wait a second or two it will go in fine and off i go.
To me the solution is obvious....2nd gear syncro is completly gone, and infiniti should replace it under warrenty.
So i got a call a few minutes ago and the clown is trying to tell me i need a new clutch.....i already waved the bs flag, but hes still quoting me $2500 to give me a new clutch. What are my options?

i would think it is common with all the people that buy these cars and do not know how to drive them.....my question is how do i fight this without driving an hour and a half to go argue how cars work to service techs. my two things right now is to ask them if i say go ahead on the new clutch and if that dosnt fix the problems then im not paying for it. Or do i just bug the hell out of the service tech on the phone and ask him why he thinks my clutch discriminates against second gear, and how a warned clutch operates every other gear just fine.
Argue it. You know as well as the rest of us that a clutch is not going to do what you just said yours is doing. Thats synchros for sure. Happens alot when someone who doesnt know how to drive a manual slams and grinds in their second gear over and over again.
The STEALERSHIP strikes yet again....=(
Is there any wonder why we call dealerships STEALERSHIPS? Go back and tell them you want this taken care of correctly cause it's not the clutch but the second gear sycros. If they want to put a clutch in for FREE while the trans is out that's acceptable. If it was the clutch it wouldn't go into any gear not just second! Is there anyone that works for Infiniti that knows anything about what they sell....

stealership woes
well i told the clowns to go ahead and start work on replacing the clutch.....im still 99.9% sure its the trans and i called three other dealers and they are on the same page with me....what are the chances they will try and sneak a new transmission in my car and make me pay for the new clutch anyway? do i have anyway of knowing if my trans was swapped for a new/used one....or am i just being parannoyed now?
they almost have me doubting whether im right now

This is one of life's lessons, never doubt what you know to be true! Let this stealership know you've contacted 3 other agency's and they're all of the opinion it's the tranny not the clutch. Plus, you're willing to let Nissan decide who should pay for what....trans/clutch. WTF did you ever feel like you dropped the soap in a shower full of flamers....

since it is under warranty, try contacting Infiniti's HQ (customer service) and explain your issue. maybe they will put some pressure on the dealership.
although, I'm a little skittish about upsetting the dealerships b/c they can easily do damage to your car without you knowing, thus causing you to come back for more repairs.... crooks...

Now you know where to go for service, only go to Infiniti for warranty work!Gary
Man, my fellow airman in arms, you're gettin shafted! You should NOT have told them to go ahead with the clutch work. You should have stuck to your guns, KNOWING what you KNEW was true, and pushed for that tranny issue to get looked at.
Have em slap in some carbon kevlar synchros for your trouble.

Im not a good fighter....right now I cant see any possible way for me to lose short of getting scammed by them and sneaking another transmission in my car. If something like that happens I would be out of ideas on how to fight it.
