I turned in my 01 slk for the coupe a year ago. No regrets. Don't know that I would buy another MB b/c of reliability issues. The coupe is more fun to drive and more practical. Also has more luxury features. But it sounds like the newer slk has a lot more power than the model I had so I'm sure that would make a difference.

Really turns on whether you want a convertible & a 2 seater. Everyone should own a convertible at some time during their life. Before the slk I had a z4 and between the 2 I would def pick the slk. slk has a much more solid feel & you don't have to worry about a foggy back window or someone slashing your top. I miss the convertible sometimes but I don't think I would ever want a ragtop again. If only infiniti would come out with a hardtop convertible.

Nope, the srt-6 has the MB old C32 amg engine in it, v6 kompressor (supercharged) with 330+ hp and torque!!

OKAY, to end this stupidity... G35 will run high 30s and SLK will run high 40s or low 50s, I GUARANTEE YOU that... SLK is more comparable to Z4 which is around that much too. Yes, the older generation SLK ran a little cheaper; HOWEVER, the new ones won't. Look at the stats! 0-60=5.5

Such a sick car, so doesnt that answer the guys question who started this thread? Im prob getting the slk 55 amg ver of this, and 5.5 for a base auto model is sick!! Love this car, and our g's too =)

thanks for every ones info, and who ever said the G would run low 30's is wrong, because if you get a fully loaded one, an 05 it will run you high 30's to low 40's. i guess id have to see one in person next month before i order my 05 g35 coupe.

 

1. I believe M-B has stated that the SLK350 will be the lowest model in the US, so no 230. The SLK350 will cost much more than the G coupe.

2. The new SLK ain't no girls car. The design is very similar to the exotic SLR.

3. Handling is vastly improved, from all magazine tests across the pond.

All in all, the new SLK is an awesome car but reliability is questionable, & it's too expensive IMO.

 

The only SLK worth getting is the SLK55 and as I remember from C&D couple month ago that car is in the price range of a M3. M3 vs. SLK55... mmm :-/ Or save 15k and get a g35c :-/
