Questions about ordering an '05....
I want to order an '05 soon, but have a few Q's.....
1) is it a good idea to order before the pricing is announced? I know I'll be paying MSRP so the price is what it is, but it just seems weird.
2) There are a few dealerships in my area. Should I try to get them to throw something extra in as incentive to pick them to order through?
3) I really only want a sunroof and no premium pckg. One dealer said he might require an extra agreement or deposit since it is an 'unusual' order and if I bail, he can't sell it. BS, someone will buy it! What should I say to him?
4) Can you wax a clear bra just like normal paint?
5) Anything else I should know or ask before ordering?
Thanks y'all in advance!

1) I ordered my 04 in May of last year, 3 months before pricing was announced. You have to realize that the price may go up and be ready to pay. Mine did and I did.
2) Always try to negiotiate freebees and price. They are going to have you sing a price plus any manufacturers increase.
3) I don't know about the 05, but you could do this on an 03-04. I originally thought about ordering a coupe stripper. I got to sit in one that was special ordered without premium, bose or a sunroof. I hated it. The headliner is huge and without at least a rear map lite, it just looks horrible. I took a bunch of my cd's with me and listened to a bose and a non-bose. The 2 stereos in the sedans are actually fairly close (I've had loaners with and without bose). The coupes base stereo is horrible. There is no base or balance to it at all. Only get it if you are planing on going aftermarket to save costs. The bose in the coupe has a tone more base and a richer sound than the sedan bose. Your dealer is very right about it being a harder sell. The majority of people want a premium package car. If you go with a special combination, if you try to back out then kiss your deposit (usually $500-1000) goodby. They may eventually sell it, but most likely they will have to discount or it will take more time causing them to pay interest and insurance fees. I am sorry, but I side with the dealer on that one. If you are special ordering then you should be responsible. It it is just an allocation car, then there should be no problem backing out.
4) Absolutely! You need to way the clear bar like paint. It protects it from contaminants and it breaths to the paint underneath. If you don't you can actually damage the paint underneath. 3M even states this in their product information.
5) Yes! work on a discount and freebees. Find out what the deposit is. If you really think you could back out, my advice is to either not special order and go with an allocation car or go to the dealer with the lowest deposit. Keep also in mind that you don't have to buy the car from the same dealer that will be servicing it. You may want to call other dealers up to a couple hundred miles away to see if you can get a better deal.

Re: Questions about ordering an '05....
Thanks for the advice Loren! I should check out the stereos and interiors. I figured I might change speakers so I didn't want to waste my money on the crappy Bose speakers.
I realized that I have a lot of questions about the 2005 that weren't covered in the Infiniti Press Release last month, especially on the price increase. If it is more than $1000 that would suck. It moves the car from mid-30s to high 30s. I am now wondering if I should get a 2004!

Re: Questions about ordering an '05....
i ordered my 04 on order day 6/6/03. didn't know if it was an 03 or 04 i was ordering. i locked in price, which was 1000 off msrp (which was good deal back then) and throw in wind deflector (which i never installed). when price increase of 250 was announced, dealer honored orig price.
later, prior to delivery when he asked if i wanted anything else, he gave me good price on splash guards, all weather mats, and through in wheel locks, couple of oil changes.
also, i ordered 6mtC, sunroof. no navi or premium
04 6mtC, DG - possibly most babied G on the board.
