Ive always been under the impression a 350z would be a bit quicker than us...because they don't have backseats, and they have aluminum panels, etc...??

The engine are identical, granted that you compare the same VQ35 generation to one another. However if I'm not mistaken, the Z is not only lighter then the G but also has a carbon driveshaft which allows it to transfer power more efficiently to the wheels. So in effect it should be faster going straight. On the other hand, the G does have a longer wheelbase which makes it more stable on the track.

Yes they do have the same engine. 350z weighs a bit less than the G, so it has a little advantage over the G35. What kind of times did you / the z run?

Great... you were out street racing and bragged about it... Pretty worthless gauge of anything.

Go do that at a track and get some real numbers we can look at. Otherwise this is pretty worthless info.

As for you running side by side with a 350z, that could be the result of anything. Him sleeping off the line (which we could tell if you had 60' slips from you both) or him not getting traction off the line (could also tell by 60' time). If i remember correctly there is roughly a 400lb difference between the two cars, with the 350 being lighter. That equates, roughly, to about 40hp you lose to the 350 for your G being heavier. I seriously doubt that intake of yours makes up for the 40 horse.

So, although it sounds like your g did well, I think the result of this race was due to the Z driver not hooking up or sleeping off the line.

NOW QUIT STREET RACING! Its dangerous, stupid, and you can do it legally at a track anyway.
