By the way, I went with an 04, because the tails, spoiler, headlights, and interior weren't a big deal to me.

Honestly, I like the 04 spoiler better, plus I wanted the 18" rims, bose, sunroof, etc over a base model.

I bought 06 HLs for $300, and I prefer the old tails. Interior, well, I don't really care. It's not that different...

I wanted to save the money so I got the older model at a cheaper price with more.
They both have about 50,000 miles on them. I just need it to last me 4 years, and then i plan on buying the newest g model. I forgot to mention the dealership is throwing in a 4 year warranty on the 03. Its not completely bumper to bumper, but its very close. I'm leaning towards the 03 just because of what it comes with, and if i have a 4 year warranty than those little issues a lot of people have shouldn't be a problem.

Brembos to me just look super sexy, and I don't want to even have to mess with the possibility of the oil consumption issue

03 imo

You all are going to think I'm dumb, but I'm going with the 03 I'm pretty sure.

There are alot of people on here with GREAT LUCK with 03's. so don't let a few opinions sway you, buy what YOU want. I am sure if vehicle was taken care of you will be fine either way! Look up reliability on Consumer Reports as a guide as well.
Funny the Automobile magazine found NO issues with used with used G35's which they Highly reccommended over a Beamer.

Since you're getting the 03 with a warranty, I see nothing wrong with it. It's got great mileage for an 03 and everything you need.

What's wrong with the navigation?

Another reason why I like the older models was the tape player, so you can buy a tape adapter and have a cheap AUX input.

With a warranty, w/o hesitation the 2003 MY. The NAV should be updated, I'd ask the dealer about that, I am on the 3rd release of firmware and my 3rd map DVD since late 2003, all just updates - there is nothing wrong with the NAV, it works great. If you want a 3-4" screen vs. 7" and things stuck to your windshield with cables running around, by all means get AM unit and the '06.

G37's have nice brakes, but the OEM brakes on G Coupes from 2005-2007 are pure crap. They're no better than my Altima's brakes. The Brembos are fantastic brakes. If you have to take 19's with that '06 keep in mind 19" tires cost significantly more and selection is a lot more limited.

I've had my 2004 since Nov 2003. It was an early model, I drive it 4 seasons in New England, it is holding up very well at 56k miles now. If your warranty covers things like window motor regulator failures (about $500 repair) and BOSE HU replacement (one failed very early on my car and was replaced under warranty, otherwise something like ~$800).

Newer is not always better, in fact I'd say putting 50k on in two years or so means potentially worse. Someone who only drove 7-8k years on average probably avoided rain and other crappy weather, took good care of the car.

Also notice that the Coupe put on about 100 lbs or more over the MY's, IDK w/o looking it up but mine weighs in at 3400 lbs, the newer MY's were 3500+ lbs. If the '06 has the rev-up motor, besides oil issues, again a negative as you lose midrange torque for small gains in upper end power. You can address this through plenum changes and tuning, but sounds like that's not your route for the car.

My '04 has been very good, some PITA problems but nothing worse than you'd see with any car in this class.

Coming up on 6 years old in another 4 months:

Newer is better? IDK about that

I have to admit I use it quite a bit for my 120 GB iPod classic. I used to get some whine until I replaced my plugs, seems like that was the culprit. I use a Phillips cheap cassette adapter, it works surprisingly well. Good enough that I've never been tempted to do one of the DIY aux line in hacks to my BOSE HU, no thanks.

Lol, though, I've never played a tape in it. I think at the time that was their target demographic for a lot of the other Infiniti models, people who still had cassette tapes My MIL has a i30t and was very happy to see it came with a cassette...

Ah yes, I did forget I have one failure, the switch that opens the trunk from inside the car failed recently. Since there is no external release that can cause problems if you drop your keys in the trunk and close it.

Classic service - called the dealer and asked how I might go through the rear seat, gave me this big line of BS about how you have to remove the seat base, obviously clueless bastard.

All you have to do is reach dead center until you find a red webbed nylon piece, pull it and the rear set releases (normally you need to pull the trunk release and the one on top of the seat). Obviously the Service Manager who I know pretty well was just bull****ting me and didn't know anything about it, or if he did, didn't want to tell me for liability reasons in case I was breaking into someone's car

I think over the long haul like a lot of other cars the most expensive problem I'm likely to ever run into is failure of some part of the BCM, body control module, was it really necessary to be able to use the key fob to roll down the windows three or more different ways? It controls locks, windows, all that kind of stuff, and if it dies IIRC that's about an $800 unit, out of warranty. Overly complex.

BMW 7-series historically also the worst and most expensive problem is it's BCM, they just went full retard on the features list, when it fails after avg of 10 years or so, costs well over a grand to replace.
