Fully loaded 03 vs. pretty basic 06

I'm scheduled to pick up a fully loaded 03 coupe with navigation, Bose, and everything else. For 2k more, I can get an 06 that doesn't have many options on it. Navigation is a huge thing for me, but it seems like everyone on these forums thinks an 03 is a bad idea. Any suggestions?

get 06. u can buy a handheld gps for 300 bucks or spend another k to get an aftermarker one. 03 => 6 years old car.. 06 => 3 years old car.. that's a no brainer for me :P

oil consumption problems in 06
as opposed to no oil consumption problems and "dealing" with the fact that you're car is an 03. Thats a no-brainer for me, when buying used especially.

Wink

I would say go with the 06,

If you really want a navy, even if you would spend 1000-1500$ on a aftermarket unit, your car would still be 3 years newer,

the 06 interior, headlights, tail lights are more refined and im sure the 06 wont feel more as dirty or used. only 2k more ? i'd still go with the 06 if it was 4-5k more. just my 2 cents.

Don't forget that the 06 should still have the remainder of the factory warranty.

Go with the 06, you'll soon realize how much of a piece of boo boo the 03 navi is.. no offense to anyone out there with a 03 with navi, including me. 06 has better interior design, headlights, taillights. There is a TSB for the oil consumption problem. Good luck.

Is there anyone who has an 03 and had a good experience with it? The carfax on this car is pretty dang good. The one on the 06 is bad. It's been in the shop 6 times other than it's routine maintenence. And the 06 has a tan interior and I want a black one

I was somewhat in your position. What's the mileage on both the cars?

By the way, I went with an 04, because the tails, spoiler, headlights, and interior weren't a big deal to me.

Honestly, I like the 04 spoiler better, plus I wanted the 18" rims, bose, sunroof, etc over a base model.

I bought 06 HLs for $300, and I prefer the old tails. Interior, well, I don't really care. It's not that different...

I wanted to save the money so I got the older model at a cheaper price with more.

I don't know what your timeline or budget is but I'd wait for an 06' with the black interior you want.

I own a 2004 coupe and love it. But I would still say 06 for many of the same reasons posted above, but most notably the factory warranty. 03 is the first year and the first year in any car make always scares me, no mater what car it is. If you go with the 03 without a warranty you will most likely run into some issues where you wish you still had a warranty. Just my .02
