If the temps stay low under the hood with the single turbo piping then I'm definitely interested.

I was scared that single turbo piping would eventually melt some wiring and plastic components under the hood if temps got too hot on the hot side of the turbo piping. I need to find a car in Chicago with this kit already installed so I can ride along and experience it for myself.

Rhett, did you get a chance to try it out before you bought the kit a few weeks ago?

Also, has anyone installed a PL kit with a different EMS other than Utec?

Given the countless amount of questions that you've posted in just about every single PowerLab thread in existence, it would seem that you should know the answers to these questions

If the PL kit caused ONE wire, connector, ANYTHING to melt, it would be ALL over the boards, agreed? I know that you're trying to cover all of your bases, but it looks like you want someone to ASSURE you that there's going to be ZERO problems and/or you want to be prepared for any/every potential issue that could/will arise with this kit. Here's the deal: you've posted in every PowerLab thread in existence, and asked about every single question, even questions that I wouldn't think about asking, and I was there throughout the entire R&D process of this kit. NOBODY is going to give you these assurances and/or make it so the car is perfect like it came from Nissan. It's an aftermarket turbo kit being installed on a high compression n/a motor. ALL bets are off, there are NO ASSURANCES. You could do ALL the homework in the world, have it installed by an F1 race car team, have Larry or Jason tune it the most conservative they've EVER tuned a car, never get into boost, and drive it 1 mile and it may break every rod in the motor, and end up costing you $10,000 to have it replaced. That's the reality. The gloves are off. Nobody should tell you differently. If you cannot live with that, you shouldn't by ANY turbo kit. Period. Sorry to be harsh, but that's how it is. Don't buy it if you can't live with the reality that it CAN:

A. Blow up your motor
B. Cause your car to overheat
C. Not drive like stock
D. Give you poor fuel economy
E. Cost you a lot more money then you originally budgeted
F. Spend more time in the shop being repaired

That goes with ANY forced induction product on the market. GReddy, G TM, Tu rbonetics, HKS, APS, etc etc etc. They can and have ALL caused the above list and can happen to you. That's it. There's nothing more to say. Everything about the PowerLab kit that can and will be discussed both in terms of potential, horsepower, problems, cost, etc has already been said. Anything and everything else that can and will happen are going to be products of individual builds. I.E. -- they are not the "norm" or they would already have been discussed and beaten to death in multiple threads.

Again, if I come off rough and harsh, and that offends you, then you have my apologies. Better to have the cold hard truth then to have someone sugar coat ****. This kit was engineered and designed to make the most amount of power with the least amount of boost. You've never read one negative review from ANY shop regarding this kit. That list includes: In jected, Sound Performance, M RC, AAM, PF, FT, Overdrive, and many others. Negativity rises to the top in the forum world. With dozens and dozens of these kits sold, EVERYTHING has been covered that is commonplace with it (including that it's half the install time of a TT kit, 3k less than a TT kit, makes 400whp @ 7psi on average or up to 650whp -- that's just scratching the surface of the many benefits that you already well know about).

Darren. You're right. Now that I think about it, all of my questions could have been answered in one phone call or visit to a vendor's shop. I ended up sending you a PM out of frustration I felt the day I read this but now that I look back it wasn't a big deal at all. Things can happen anytime...good or bad its a risk we take to play!

All's well. Good thing, we live and we learn! Here's to a great kit, great cars and great knowledge shared on these forums.

Based on the information I've learned here, I happily look forward to joining the FI ranks this summer!
