Getting Fed Up with My G

Hey guys. After 1 year of trouble free motoring in my G, my car has all of a sudden decided that it wants to start giving me grief. Its like my car is falling apart.

In the span of 3 weeks, my windows starting making the really annoying pop/tick/creaking noises, I started getting grease streaks, my windows will go up all the way then go back down halfway, my outside temperature gauge reads 90 degrees when its 75 (in san diego), my fuel gauge doesnt read full after filling up, and I'm getting weird creaking noises from the front of the car somewhere which is worrying me.

I'm so pissed with this car right now. I was really starting to think that I was a real Infiniti convert for life with this car. Now I'm scared to keep this car after the warranty is up as everything will have to come out of my own pocket. I drive about 25,000 miles a year which means I only have 1-2 years of warranty left. I'm so frustrated.

Re: Getting Fed Up with My G

The grease streaks are apparently a very common problem with the coupes. I didnt have the streaks until I took my car in to have them take care of the pop/tick noise coming from the windows. then I started getting em. I took it in for them to fix the streaks, and when I got it back, the streaks are 10 times worse now.

I have an appointment for them to try to fix it again. I have a feeling that I'll get some bs about how I just need to live with it and there is nothing they can do to get rid of all the streaks.

Re: Getting Fed Up with My G

Have had my coupe for a year now and have had the drivers seat cushion come apart from the frame, 6th gear syncros are not allowing me to shift into that gear, window streaking, and bad snapping sound from rear end. All is going to be looked at on Friday, but I am pretty disappointed to say the least.

Interesting..My friend just introduced me to this forum, and this whole time I thought I was the only one going through these problems. I have the grease streaks as well. After reading everyone's responses, I'm hesitant to take it in to service because it might actually come out worse!

Re: Getting Fed Up with My G

Hey guys almost everything you ALL have listed is a TSB that Infiniti will fix for free. I printed all the TSB items I could find and took my car to the dealer and said fix it as apposed to it happening a little at a time. Since then I have been trouble free. Just my opinion..

XIMER - TSB Technical Service Bulletin. You can find a list of them here:

Its about half way down the page. This is actually a great page to bookmark for the G. Lots of good stuff.

I had that same problem. I'm pretty sure its the motor. I took it to the dealership and they fixed it.

Trust me, I know how you feel. Just a few weeks ago the dealer had my G for 2 freaken weeks. I went through 3 loaner cars! I was almosted tempted to go trade the thing in for a 7 but I stayed strong lol. It happens man. Every car is going to have their fair share of problems. If you like your car then take it to a good dealer, have it worked on under warranty and leave happy.
