Engine code p0507 high idle..
Engine code p0507 high idle..
Ok..First of all I bought a kinetix V+ plenum to put on my car, looked at the instructions, all the hardware that came with it and figured it to be an easy job. I took the plenum off with the throttle body. first mistake..I should have left the throttle body on and it's electrical connector connected, I didn't know that anytime you remove the connector it loses it's memory. Second mistake was the way I cleaned the throttle body after I took it off the factory plenum..bought some cleaner and sprayed the hole thing. So I put it on the kinetix plenum and put everything back together. It started right up and seemed not to have any problem. I drove about 120 miles and in that time the engine light came on, I have a hand held computer, checked the code P0507 RPM high idle..I never noticed that the car was indeed idleing high. I turned off the light called kinetix told them what was going on and they told me I had a vaccume leak and to take it back off and put RTV between the factory gasket and the cork gasket and that would fix the problem. Ok did it and nothing changed I drove it a couple of days..on the highway it's fine but around town it was always down shifting and reving up higher. I got so aggravated that I put the stock plenum and new gasket back on thinking that would be it. Wrong!! Same exact problems with the light still coming on.. I researched it and found threads on accelerator position learning, throttle valve learning, and idle air volume learning. That didn't work either. The only thing I can figure out is I read if you spray the whole throttle body you can damage the electrical part, so next up is a new throttle body. I know this was long but if it can help somebody from doing the samething it was worth it. Don't unplug the connector and wipe out the throttle body! ____________ 2004 G35 coupe, 5at, z-tube, Jim wolf cold air, HKS duel exhaust, headers, cat deletes. you need to do an idle air volume learn.
your idle is controlled via your electronic throttle. the computer adjusts for the junk that builds up on it. when you clean it out, the ECU has a tough time compensating.

Not yet...I'm going to try another trottle body. I tried the idle air volume learn and it makes no difference. You would think kinetix would know about this situation instead of thinking theres a leak at the plenum.
hey man I just got your pm and no I still have it I've just been reseting it around every 2 days. I also tried the idle air volume learn and got nada unless I did it wrong.... O one last thing when you siliconed your factory gasket did you just do the edge around the whole thing or did you also do the center oval part under that brass plate?
Thanks
