Driveways and G 35
Driveways and G 35
Do you guys experience problems entering certain (actually most) driveways? To access most parking lots in the University I work at, I have no choice but to go through those low driveways. It brakes my heart when I hear and feel my baby slamming on the concrete. I go extremely slow but still doesn't help. I also experience that with dips on some streets.
Didn't Japanese designers consider this car will be sold in the US where such driveways exist?
Just wanted to share my pain with you.

Re: Driveways and G 35
I got the same problem bro. Las Vegas streets are complete [censored]. All the time, construction or repair on streets is going on. Its funny because after they are done, the roads are still shitty. I have eibachs on my G so i can be especially empathetic. I can kinda eyeball bumps and driveway slopes and determine if my car will clear them. If not, I drive at an angle over them. I can feel a few scrapes on the bottom of my front bumper. It pains me
Sometimes when i hit a pothole hard and my bumper scrapes, its on my mind the whole day. But thats the price you pay for lowering your car i guess. Yea, but try driving over bumps and driveways at an angle. Stick out one tire onto the bump or droveway, then proceed to straighten out the car very slowly adapting to the angle of the slope. Your car will conform to the angle of the driveway or bump and you should be fine.

I do my best to keep my eyes out for those bumps or when entering a driveway I angle the car as much as possible. I just think about that front bumper every time, take it slow. Its a pain but its all worth it after you park and the car is huging the road, NICE!

Re: Driveways and G 35
i didnt realize factory Gs were so low, so you guys with springs or coils are sittin even lower!
i do have some practice, my accord is lowered 1.5 with a lip kit, so i have lots of practice going at angles over driveways, speed bumps, speed tables, etc. just the other day, a truck was stalled or something across the road, so the cops were routing traffic thru a DIRT DRIVEWAY! i could barely get my car up it, they heard it scrape, and they just said "Ouch". WTF! i should just stopped and said find me another way, i didnt plan on off-roading today.
here in jeresy its also pretty bad, with steep inclines off roads and whatnot. like they said, just take everything at a nice angle and go nice and slow. if you can, and u know construction will mess up the car, tell them to let you turn around, you shouldnt risk YOUR car for this.
Ill have to be extra careful when i get the G with the aero kit (hopefully). i guess that is ONE good thing about carbon fiber splitters

Re: Driveways and G 35
The factory G isnt that low. If its giving your a problem at stock height, your not being careful enough with the car. I drove around a truck that had just over 2 inches of ground clearance on all corners for a very long time and learned very quickly, if it doesn't look like you should go that way, DONT. Driveways are very easy, as when I lived with my parents, they had an insane slope to theirs and I parked my truck on it every day. Its all about two things, speed and angles. Backing out of a driveway, you want to go as slow as you possibly can with the wheel fully cut in either direction, but you want to slowly cut the wheel as you come off the downgrade. Basically, if your backing out to the right, try to get as close to the curb as possible (so you could just "park" on the curb as you back out, if you did it right.) Coming into driveways, same concept, but go at a larger angle and then cut back. The main thing to remember, if your hesitant about driving it now, do not lower it....ever. Don't be in a rush and if you really feel that you can't clear something, go another route or start approaching the turns "straighter" and cutting back harder and faster than you usually do after clearing the upgrade.

I do the very same thing, one wheel at a time. My driveway is on an incline, so you learn to adapt very quickly. Trying to be careful, I have scraped coming out of some gas stations. Re: Driveways and G 35
Depends on the area I guess. My G is stock, and I have problems all the time. Might be amplified, because I have the factory front lip, who knows... I can't clear my brother's driveway, so when I visit him, I park in the street. I also can't clear those rediculously large speed bumps inside the parking garage of Bellevue Square. Those big black ones, that are used to connect two buildings. I took that thing diagonally, real slow, but it still scraped. Heck, I can't even clear my ultra-ramps, with the extensions even.... It just smacks my front lip.
