To G, or not to G? Renaming it a Skyline!
What is your take on removing and renaming your Infiniti name with Skyline emblems? I personally think it's a sinny sin sin!

I don't really like it either!! I mean if you put skyline its not bad, but some people put the nissan, skyline, 350gt and go all out. I wouldnt do it IMO but that's me.

Nope - not a sin....
Yeah - it's costly to go all out and change out all Infiniti Badges (inside and out) to Nissan. I just took off the exterior Infiniti badges, and I have Skyline and 350GT on the rear. I also have the Skyline kick plates on the inside. I don't think I would have the $$$ to fully convert it by changing out the steering wheel emblem and replacing the leather seats (i.e. Infiniti embroidery).
One other thing - I think that if you do change out the emblems to JDM, you should have something under the hood that reflects more than just a CAI, pulleys, or some other bolt-on (e.g. Exhaust)... we wouldn't want to "tarnish" the Skyline name/reputation....

What the heck are you talking about? So if you don't have engine mod you can't have a Skyline? Do JDM Skylines all have engine mods? Skyline is not the same as GT-R. Rebadging the car to Skyline is NOT a ricer move, it doesn't mean your car is any faster. It simply pays homage to the Skyline heritage.
Re: To G, or not to G? Renaming it a Skyline!
umm, the G35 in America is the same Skyline in Japan right now, being the same car, u dont need mods. they're the same already

Re: To G, or not to G? Renaming it a Skyline!
illg35 - it makes more sense to put all the badges instead of just putting the skyline part of it. What the hell is an infiniti skyline. If you change one thing on the outside, you might as well change all of it. Your more correct if you put the nissan skyline 350gt

Re: To G, or not to G? Renaming it a Skyline!
I left the infiniti names and emblems on my coupe, but removed the G35 from the trunk, and replaced it with the 350GT emblem. I think the 350GT moniker better fits the coupe, and as has been said, that's what it's called in Japan. As far as the Skyline goes, I like Infiniti better (personal choice). Skyline reminds of the Buick Skylark, which we should all forget.

What's wrong with just putting the 350GT emblem. With so many old ladies and altogether non-enthusiasts driving the car, you need something to clear yourself out there on the road. Plus, I don't like the hamburger Nissan emblem. Mt Fuji looks so much better.

This comes up every once in awhile. Do what you want, but ask yourself why you really want "Skyline" on the back of your car. For most people, I strongly suspect it's because they want others to associate their G with a car it does not share a single component part with: a previous generation Skyline GT-R. The badges aren't for you, because you already know what the hell kind of car you have. And it's not because you're a JDM freak, because a JDM freak would conform the entire car to the JDM model, not just the part that says "Skyline." But whether the first reason or some other reason applies, that's fine, it's a free country. Just don't put too much weight on Nissan calling it a Skyline in Japan. They could just as easily have called it a Gloria Coupe, but obviously the Skyline brand has more market appeal. Marketing is the only link between the cars, just like the new Pontiac GTO and the classic car it bears no resemblence to.
Re: To G, or not to G? Renaming it a Skyline!
Ironically, some Japanese enthusiasts have re-badged their Skylines with North American Infiniti G35 emblems.
So I'm leaving mine as an Infiniti G35, because then I am paying homage to the hardcore Japanese enthusiasts who have re-badge their Skylines to G35's...

Yea that made no sense!! Some people go overboard, ive seen just a coupe fully debadged except for skyline and 350gt, looked pretty good not witht he infiniti logo or g35 lol, didnt mean that.

Re: To G, or not to G? Renaming it a Skyline!
From what i remember, RSX Type S is different than Intergra Type R. (Though they have the same exterior, the JDM Type R is faster) I do see many IS300 owner rebadge to Altezza though... actually, i've seen more Z owner rebadge it to FairladyZ. People just didn't recognize it is a Skyline in Japan because it looks so different than the GTR-R34. (As previous generation the 25Gt looks like R32.) And the F&F movie just make everybody think GTR is the only model for Skyline. Not knowing the fact that GTR is to 2.5GT, 350GT...etc. as M3 to the other 3 series. And i've heard the new GT-R is not Skyline anymore. Rebadge or not, do whatever you like, some ppl debadged everything and like it, that's fine. Some ppl rebadge everything into JDM, some ppl like the sign of the Infiniti but the name of Skyline, some others like to put clear corner to look better even though USDN doesn't have clear corner. Go with whatever you like, who cares about ppl questioning you it's not a skyline, show him nissan japan's website and make him look stupid by not knowing it is a skyline. It's not like debadge everything, or rebadge with skyline and nissan, or change only the skyline and 350gt, or change the clear corner (as there is no infiniti with clear corner either), then it is not the same car anymore. Go with what you like! It's not like you are lying or something, Infiniti is a Nissan made (there is no Infiniti originally in japan), and most likely the G35 come out of the "Nissan" factory in Japan, and G35 is a Skyline.
