LOL! 50 bucks for an oil change?

So, I just got back from getting an oil change from Infiniti. Now... before you ******** start spouting off at the mouth about "why didnt you do it yourself!!" blah blah blah. I had that little complimentary "welcome to the infiniti family" coupon to use for a free oil change. So, I used it.

But anyway... those of you who go to the dealer for all your oil changes and such. Yall pay 50 bucks for that? Im not poor by any means, nor am I rich, but 50 bucks is 50 bucks. And that seems a bit pricey for an oil change.

I didnt think to ask this before I left, but... do any of you know what brand and weight of oil they use?

it's up to each dealer to use what they want as long as the viscosities are within oem range. $50 isn't bad really. An oem filter is $8-$10? 5 qts of dino is about $20 from the dealer? Plus 1/2 hour of labor?

$50 oil change from Infiniti is likely conventional 5W30 with a Nissan filter. I think a synthetic oil change can be anywhere from $80-100 from them. Compared to a Nissan dealer, they will do synthetic oil changes for $60.

See, now 60 bucks for a syn change, sounds more reasonable considering the cost of mobile 1. But, I didnt think they did a syn change on my car, so assuming it was standard oil... i dunno.... maybe cuz its been so long since someone has changed my oil for me im just not used to the pricing from dealers. Just seemed kinda high.

I know right! when I first got my G I was telling myself how I want to take it to Infiniti for everything since I still have the warranty that way all the service records are from Infiniti.

BUT Once I inquired on an oil change took it straight to my mechanic!

the cheapest i paid for synthetic at the dealer was $70 but that was bc i bitched about the price; i was initially quoted $100, then $70 by another service rep, then $90. that was the last time i took it there for that.

dealerships used syn-blend if syn is not requested.

so if you walk in tell the rep you want an oil change he automatic write the order up as syn-blend. Standard motor oil for our cars is syn-blend.

so some of you are paying 50-60 for syn-blend and thinking you got full syn.

when I'm feeling lazy ill just take it to a local mechanic who charges only 10.00 to change and dispose of the oil. Bring your own oil of course.

I don't think i would ever pay anyone $50 for an Oil change. Unless it was Oil+filter included and of course full syn.

Right now if u go to autozone there's a sale where u can get 5 quarts of Mobil1 syn. and the filter for 29.99 or around that. Take it to a mechanic and offer him 10 bucks to change/dispose. That's what I did last week
That way, you can make sure u get full syn. and save yourself 5 bucks... though u don't get to walk around the Infinity showroom to see all the new goodies DOMO

I really dont get the whole Syn thing, i ran full Syn in my bike for 2 OC's and it did absolutely nothing but made my bike run a few degrees hotter, WTF! i think the Syn thing is way overrated and unwarranted! Just my .02!!

^^^

I do the same minus the M1 filter, I use Puralotor Pure One. Gonna switch it up to Castrol Euro synthetic next time, or I might just take it to the shop and have them do it and use Eneos....Might be worth the extra money cos it's a bish doing it myself with a lowered car and an undertry that does not come off completely
