Molykote M77 Grease

Hello,

Does anyone know where I can get some of this grease? I am going to fix the clicking noise on my rear axle. Let me know. Thanks. Or if anyone knows of something else that will work just as well.

Honda brake pad grease is the same stuff. I had a little bit left in a packet that was included with factory replacement pads. It really doesn't take much, maybe a dime or nickel size total. I tried shopping for it at the usual places (Kragen, Pep-Boys, etc.) but I couldn't find it labeled exactly that.

Don't skimp on this, you need something that's really viscous and heat/water resistant. You don't need to "pack" it in, just a thin coat on the splines and the circle part where the axle contacts the hub. Oh, and clean that part really well first. Use a wire brush or somethething that will remove any rust or galling, at least on that flat surface (the splines aren't as important.

Once you grease it up, is it a permanent fix or will it return?

Yes, I used Loctite C5-A. It is a copper based anti-seize which is very tough and worked great. The job is not too hard, just make sure you get all new nuts and bolts for the fix.
